On Monday 10/21 The Pilla Band traveled to Rowan Univ. for a full day of music and learning. The students started their day serving as the performing ensemble for future music educators. Then students were led on a campus tour, had a picnic lunch on the beautiful campus and enjoyed a Q&A with Rowan music students. The day ended with the opportunity to attend a rehearsal of the University Wind Ensemble. It was a great day of learning on both sides and we are excited to return and build on this reconnected partnership. #PillaProud

Pilla Safety Patrol Volunteers at Wheaton Arts Festival of Fine Crafts!
On Saturday, October 5th, the Pilla Safety Patrol was out in full force at the Wheaton Arts Festival of Fine Crafts, and they made quite an impression! Our dedicated volunteers had the unique opportunity to "patrol" the mesmerizing Glass Pumpkin Patch, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees.
Pilla Safety Patrol truly represented our community with pride, and we couldn't be happier with their contribution. Their commitment to safety and their enthusiastic participation made the Wheaton Arts Festival of Fine Crafts an unforgettable event for all who attended. We are so Pilla Proud of our amazing volunteers! 💙💛
Ms. Rowan
Ms. Cruz

Ms. Cruz's 7th grade accelerated classes took their "Suspense Share-Out PBL" to another level.
Students had the challenge of researching different elements of "Suspense" and then creating an engaging lesson plan to "share out" the information learned to their peers. Students were beyond creative in their teaching methods. Some used hands-on learning activities such as building their own "suspenseful architecture" using toothpicks and marshmallows, while others had students drawing out the best suspenseful illustration. Other teaching techniques used were - KWL charts, kahoots or booklets, exit tickets, hangman for teaching vocabulary, white board games, bingo, and more!
So Pilla Proud of our amazing students!💙💛

As 2024 is a Presidential Election year, we have the unique opportunity to expose all of our students to the voting process beyond what they would learn in Civics class in the 8th grade and Accelerated 7th grade.
On Thursday, October 3, 2024, a representative from the Board of Elections visited our school to present the entire student body with a mini lesson on how to use a voting machine. Students in 8th grade and Accelerated 7th grade Civics actually had the opportunity to “vote” using the voting machine.
