Mrs. Lopez Perry and 39 of our seniors visited Rowan College of South Jersey at their Cumberland campus! The seniors were able to choose courses under priority admissions prior to typical incoming freshmen. They were given lunch and a tour of the campus, plus had their RCSJ accounts set up in real-time!
Mr. Greg Bartholomew's Chemistry students at Vineland High School measured the number of moles of chalk that they used after they drew with playground chalk on the parking lot.
Students first measured the mass of their chalk and then had time to free-draw anything that they wanted on the parking lot. Some students chose to compete in tic-tac-toe, while others drew their favorite cartoon such as Spongebob Squarepants, while more artistically-inclined students drew more extravagant designs.
After a few minutes, students returned to the classroom and re-weighed their chalk. They then calculated the number of moles of chalk (or calcium carbonate) (CaCO3) left on the parking lot by using Avogadro's number and mathematical calculations.
Students enjoyed getting outside on a beautiful day and were highly engaged. The lesson had students 'doing science' and applying Chemistry concepts in a fun, hands-on way!

Miss Christina and Miss Sam's class at All Kids First read Pete the Cat last week and celebrated with a pizza party! Students donned aprons and had a blast making their own pizzas. What a great way to end the week!
Mr. McClain's journalism students eagerly gathered in the Dennis Tanner Media Center as they awaited the arrival of a special guest speaker. Michael Biddinger, a seasoned professional from T&F Camera, has graciously agreed to share his expertise on the captivating world of photography. As he began his presentation, the students listened intently, taking in all his wisdom. Mr. Biddinger delved into the intricacies of various photographic forms, from the classic elegance of black and white portraits to the vibrant energy of action shots. He shared insider tips on composition, lighting, and the art of capturing the perfect moment. The students marveled at the stunning examples of Mr. Biddinger's work, each image telling a compelling story and evoking powerful emotions. Michael helped expand their knowledge and helped in providing them with ideas on how to be an amazing storyteller and help them create journalism that truly captivates and informs their readers.

Miss Giordano's first-grade class at Petway had a fantastic time participating in Book Madness, an exciting event where students voted on their favorite books they read throughout March using the Bookworms Curriculum. The students read a variety of engaging stories, and each book sparked great discussions and creativity. The entire class learned a lot about the process of voting and how it helps everyone have a voice. After much anticipation and excitement, the votes were tallied, and the winner was “My Brother, Charlie”! "My Brother Charlie," written by Holly Robinson Peete and co-authored with her daughter, Ryan Elizabeth Peete, is a heartfelt and inspiring children's book. It tells the story of a young girl who shares her experiences growing up with her twin brother, Charlie, who has autism. Through the eyes of the sister, readers gain insight into Charlie's unique qualities and challenges. The book emphasizes themes of love, understanding, and acceptance, highlighting how siblings can support each other through life's ups and downs.
Vineland High School juniors Alexica Perez, Aalilah Folk, and Sarah Santiago earned admission into Stockton University's Summer Program, known as RYLA.
The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Conference (RYLA) is a 5 day conference for juniors to develop leadership skills and have the opportunity to stay in Stockton's dorms.
The three girls were chosen from leadership in Vineland High School clubs, teams, and classrooms, as they are each Honor Roll Students.
Delegates to the Conference are chosen for their scholastic, athletic, and civic and/or religious achievements as well as their personality and desire to improve themselves. They will get a taste of college life and have the chance to continue to develop their strong leadership skills!

On Saturday, March 28th, several Vineland High School students from Mrs. Parent's and Mrs. Medio's art classes participated in the Vineland Public Library Foundation Student Art Show. The show was open to all senior high school students in South Jersey.

At Petway Elementary School the fourth grade students recently embarked on an exciting cross-curricular journey, blending Language Arts and Science in an unforgettable way!
In Language Arts, students read and explored Greek myths, discovering the legendary tales of heroes, gods, and mythical creatures. They then connected these stories to their Science lessons by studying constellations—learning how ancient cultures linked the night sky to their myths.
To bring their learning to life, students stepped inside StarLab, an immersive, portable planetarium. As they traveled through the galaxy, they identified constellations tied to the Greek myths they had studied, seeing firsthand how storytelling and science intertwine.
This hands-on experience deepened their understanding of both literature and astronomy, sparking curiosity and wonder about the stars above. What an incredible way to learn!
Students in Mr. Cresci's 8th grade Accelerated Social Studies classes at Veterans Memorial School worked collaboratively in small groups to create posters to showcase Women's History Month. The students visited the school media center and worked with Media Specialist Mrs. Bermudez to research, format, and create the project. The posters focused on various themes connected to the topic, including "Women Who Changed History" – Highlighting influential women in government, activism, and leadership, "Breaking Barriers" – Focusing on women who were pioneers in politics, law, and civil rights, "Votes for Women" – Celebrating the women’s suffrage movement and key figures and "Women in Government Today" – Featuring current female leaders in the U.S. and worldwide.
On "Fist Bump Friday," 8th-grade NJHS students from Wallace Middle visited Barse Elementary to spread joy and encouragement! As Barse students arrived at school, they were welcomed with pom poms, upbeat music, bright smiles, and, of course, plenty of fist bumps. It was a fantastic way to kick off the day with positive energy and school spirit!

Inspira's RAFT YDS, Nayomi Roman, worked the whole month of March with Wallace staff and students to participate in a school-wide competition based on nutrition. Ms. Nayomi prepared nutrition facts each Monday and, on Friday, would send out a quiz for teachers to do with their 9th-period class. Each week, teachers would complete the quiz, and those qualified, based on correct answers and speed of response, would move forward on the bracket. The last two teams, Ms. Ecret and Ms. Kozora's 9th-period classes, competed in a Jeopardy-style competition where the winners received a prize of a week of dressing down! Congratulations to Ms. Ecret's Class!
On Tuesday, March 25, Inspira's RAFT Youth Development Specialist (YDS), Nayomi Roman, went into Ms. Ecret's 8th grade ELA class and presented on the topics of stress management, coping skills, time management, and goal setting. After the presentation, the students participated in a game where they practiced the skills they had learned. The students created a table representing themselves. The four legs represent the stability of healthy coping skills, time and stress management skills, and goal setting. A scenario was read, and the students would remove or reinforce a leg depending on the scenario based on stress and how it is handled. When the table dropped, the students could see how the weight of stress made them lose stability. The students were very engaged as they realized how important and real these topics are.
