Thank you to members of the Sgt. Pilla and Veterans Memorial Middle School Safety Patrols for leading the flag salute at the November 13 Board of Education Meeting! Great job! 🇺🇸

At last night’s Board of Education meeting, member Rob Buono presented a remarkable piece of Vineland history—a game-used football from the 1934 Vineland-Millville Thanksgiving Day game—to the Vineland High School Historical Committee. The football, generously donated by Amanda and Joe Tolotti, was recovered from the home of local artist Margaret Ricci, sister of 1934 team captain Bud Pagliughi. Accepting the football were committee members, including senior class president Michaela Giuliani, former principal Dr. Tom McCann, and teacher and committee advisor Chris Mohan. This year marks the 153rd year of the Vineland-Millville Thanksgiving game, and we hope you can join us at Gittone Stadium on November 28 for a 10:30 a.m. kickoff.

At last night’s Board of Education meeting, Athletic Director Sylvester Cifaloglio presented an overview of the fall athletic season. Each fall sports coach shared highlights from their team’s season, recognizing the contributions of their senior athletes. The Board took this opportunity to honor these seniors, acknowledging their hard work, commitment, and leadership throughout the season. It was a fitting way to celebrate the accomplishments of our student-athletes and the dedication of our coaching staff!

Today, Miss Perry's kindergarten class at Winslow Elementary School had the honor of welcoming a true hero—her mother, Retired Chief Master Sergeant Jean Perry! She was the first female Chief Master Sergeant at the 177th Fighter Wing, serving an incredible 27 years in the military, and continued her commitment to our country as a civilian Family Program Manager for 13 more years.
The students were captivated by her stories and the special memorabilia she shared, including coins, tokens, uniforms, photos, her basic training yearbook, and videos of fighter jets. We explored addition with patriotic pictures, read about the different branches of the military, and created poppy flowers to express what peace means to each of us.
A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Colon’s kindergarten class for their beautiful handmade cards for Ret. CMSGT Perry—an inspiring Veterans Day experience for everyone!

Dr. William Mennies School teamed up with Inspira Hospital for Socktober! 🎉 Our students brought in new socks each morning, which our Safety Patrol collected for donation. These socks were delivered to Inspira and then passed on to the Salvation Army to support those in need. Huge thanks to Ms. McGill and Mrs. Seda for their help with this project. Our students gained a meaningful lesson in giving back to the community. 💙🧦 #Socktober #CommunityService #MenniesCares

Students at Dane Barse recently had an incredible opportunity to work with the Board of Elections, where they were able to try out voting machines and learn firsthand about the voting process! It was more than just a lesson on how to vote—it was a chance to connect what they’re learning in the classroom with real-world experiences.
This month, the focus has been on empathy—the ability to understand and care about how others feel. Using Election Day as a guide, students were encouraged to think about how empathy plays an important role in the voting process. The morning message sparked discussions on how each vote reflects diverse perspectives and the importance of listening to and respecting the choices of others, even when there are disagreements.
By linking empathy with voting, students are learning that being a good citizen is not only about knowing how to vote, but also about being kind, thoughtful, and understanding toward others. Voting is about more than choosing one’s own preference; it’s about working together to build a better future for everyone.
A huge thank you to the Board of Elections and Mr. Stanger, Supervisor of Instruction, for making this such a valuable learning experience. We look forward to seeing these students grow into caring, thoughtful members of our community!

Today, we honor the bravery and loyalty of those who have served our country. The Vineland Public School District would like to thank all members of our armed forces who have served, are still serving, and have sacrificed for us. Happy Veterans Day!

Students in Mrs Belmonte's class at D'Ippolito School reviewed the letter F and the adjective brave. They incorporated painting and building firetrucks to enhance their learning. They really enjoyed creating the replicas and used real tools to build them!

The Rossi Safety Patrol is organizing a Turkey & Ham Donation Drive to support the Vineland Soup Kitchen this Thanksgiving season! We’re inviting students and families to contribute either a turkey or a ham to help those in need in our community.
How It Works:
Donation Window: We’ll be collecting donations from Monday, November 11th, through Friday, November 22nd.
Collection Details: Donations can be dropped off at Mr. Martine's room (B-10) at Rossi School
Student Incentive: The student who brings in the heaviest turkey or ham will win an extra recess period with a friend of their choice! Weighing will take place on 11/22. For this reason, students' names must be placed either on a sticky note or a piece of paper that accompanies their donation.

The teachers and students at D'Ippolito Elementary School are holding our eighth annual Great Bedtime Story Pajama Drive to benefit children. We are collecting from our students and families and trying to reach out to the community to get more pajama donations to help kids in need. Anyone who would like to donate may mail new pajamas to D'Ippolito Elementary School at 1578 N. Valley Ave. in Vineland, NJ 08361. We greatly appreciate any and all donations!
Our drive will run from Monday, November 11th through Friday, December 6th. Only brand-new pajamas will be collected in all sizes from newborn through adult. The pajama drive is organized in partnership with Pajama Program, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and supporting a comforting bedtime routine for children affected by instability to help them thrive. Once our donations are reported to Scholastic, they will pair each set of pajamas collected with a new book, and through The Pajama Program, will be donated to a local organization. Last year, 212 sets of pajamas went to The Inspira Monarch Family Success Center, located at 1038 E. Chestnut Ave. in Vineland.
D'Ippolito students who donate a new pair of pajamas will be able to wear their own pajamas to school on Friday, December 20th, as a reward for their generous gifts.

Ms. Ladner's 3rd-grade class at Mennies is diving into multiplication, and the excitement is contagious! 🎉 Students are eager to master their facts, working in small groups to tackle word problems and practice skills. Ms. Ladner's group even uses a whiteboard table for problem-solving, while others spread out in different learning stations. Some students work with a “student teacher,” others play math games and flashcards, and one lucky student gets to sit at the teacher's desk! Learning multiplication has never been so fun!

Vineland Public Schools and Sodexo Food Service will be distributing food for those in need before the Thanksgiving holiday. Please see the flyer for more information.

Students in Mrs. Rowe’s and Mrs. Wheatons class at Mennies School learned the importance of voting and Election Day. The class held a debate and voted for which snack should win. It was a close vote, but cookies emerged victorious!

Winslow's kindergarten class in Room 29 explored the exciting world of voting and decision-making with "The Great Cookie Election"– and it was a blast! Students chose between two "candidates"—Oreo and Chocolate Chip Cookies—in a hands-on, fun-filled learning experience.
Throughout the activity, they registered to vote, designed campaign posters, and participated in a taste test to make informed choices. We capped off the project by casting ballots in our classroom voting booths, tallying votes, and celebrating the results together. This activity helped our young learners understand decision-making, teamwork, and respectful discussions—all while having a deliciously fun time!🎉🍪

Rossi students in Mrs. Lee’s third-grade class and Ms. Hensley’s second-grade class got together to learn about Election Day. Students listened to the story “Splat the Cat for President,” discussed the voting process, filled out a voter’s registration card, and then held an election. The candidates: Chocolate Oreo and Golden Oreo! Students cast their vote in the ballot box, then excitedly waited for the results. It was a close race, but ultimately, Golden Oreo won, showing it was the clear favorite among students! Students' favorite part was getting to sample their favorite cookies.

First graders at Mennies Elementary School learned about the election process! After listening to Vote for Duck, students had the opportunity to vote. They brought their photo ID to the booth, chose their candidate, placed their ballot in the box, and received a sticker. We counted the votes, and Duck beat Farmer Brown in a landslide!

Miss Giordano’s First Grade class at Petway held a lively pretend election inspired by the story Duck for President. First, students listened attentively as they learned about Duck's journey from farm animal to political candidate, sparking discussions about the role of voting. Each student then registered to vote, creating personalized voter registration cards to make the experience feel official. When voting day arrived, students cast their ballots, carefully placing them into a decorated ballot box. After everyone voted, the class worked together to tally the results, counting each vote one by one. Excitement filled the room as they announced the winner, and with a landslide victory, Duck took the title! This hands-on activity not only made learning about elections fun but also helped students understand the importance of participation and fair counting in the voting process.
