The Vineland Police Department and Vineland Public Schools joined forces on October 22 to host the 9th annual family fun night, held at Vineland High School. Hundreds of happy families decked out in Halloween costumes came out to enjoy the comfortable fall evening, where they were able to enjoy free food from Sodexo Food Service, hayrides, fun activities, and the main event - trunk or treat. Cars and service vehicles from city and county organizations and local businesses were decorated and on display as Halloween music filled the air and eager children raced to see how many treats they could collect that night. The event is always a highlight for the city and we look forward to next year! More photos are available on our Facebook page. VPS Broadcasting was also at the event and a short news piece is available on our YouTube page here: https://youtu.be/Ia9pVtC8bUM?si=KIhZ8r7HfuAgMtGa

Petway students in Mrs. Nonnemacher’s and Miss McGrail’s classes joined forces for the Dancing Ghost science experiment. They mixed baking soda and vinegar, which sparked a fizzy volcanic eruption. The highlight was hoping to watch lima beans dance up and down, resembling moving ghosts!

On Monday, Mrs. Trionfo and Mr. Cervi’s students were treated to a special surprise visit from Mrs. DeTetta, who came to spread awareness about dwarfism. During her visit, Mrs. DeTetta shared the most beautiful pictures of her daughter, Valentina, and read a heartfelt story that captivated the students. In addition to the inspiring lesson, Mrs. DeTetta brought in some delicious green snacks, making the experience both educational and fun for everyone. The visit was extra special because next year, Valentina will be joining our school as a proud Rossi Owl. The students in A-15 are already looking forward to welcoming her to our school family!

Kindergarten students at D'Ippolito took part in a Pumpkin Day! Students participated in team building activities, explored and described the inside and outside of a pumpkin using their five senses, used a ten frame and pumpkin seeds to count and model numbers 1-10, sequenced the steps to make pumpkin pie in a cup, decorated pumpkins with stickers, and pumpkin sticker letter matching. The students had a great time! Thank you to the local farmer, Steve Lombardi, who donated the pumpkins!

Students and staff at Little Lamb Preschool were able to enjoy real-life world experiences on a Duffield trip to the farm market. Parents, staff, and teachers were able to enjoy a pumpkin-picking hayride and learning about animals on a farm. This trip was followed by a visit from Miss Gloucester County Titleholder Faith Pierre Charles, who read a story to our students about being accepted and celebrating everyone’s differences. Children were able to understand that we are all unique and carry a special gift inside of us, and it is OK to accept others for their unique features and talents.

Students in Ms. Baines' 7th grade Accelerated ELA class at Veterans Memorial School participated in a Mock Trial where they applied their knowledge of criminal trials and "The Tell-Tale Heart" to determine whether Mr. Narrator was innocent or guilty. Students conducted research on specific trial roles, the insanity plea, and prepared for the Mock Trial. One class found Mr. Narrator guilty while the other found him to be innocent through reason of insanity.
