All Vineland Public Schools, including Champions before care, preschools and private provider preschools, will open two hours late on Wednesday, January 17, due to dangerous road conditions.
Staff will report on a 90-minute delay. Parents are reminded that because of the delayed opening they may NOT drop off their children at school early, unless they have signed up for Champions before care, which will start at 9 a.m. Staff may not be available to admit them to the building. No breakfast will be served tomorrow.

Middle Schools - 10:25 a.m.-2:55 p.m.

We are very excited to announce the opening of the VPS Dress to Impress Closet! This closet is located at the Landis Administrative Office and will be open by appointment for any student who needs formal attire or accessories in grades 6-12. The items can be taken, free of charge, and kept or donated back.

Students at Anthony Rossi Elementary School in Mrs. Bermudez's 3rd grade class have been learning all about the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, they created paintings of the Earth, traced their hands on construction paper, and added one way they will positively change the world. Some examples are to solve our problems peacefully and to help others in need. Our future is bright!
First graders in Mrs. Hadley's class at Mennies Elementary School are working hard in their word work centers! The students are enjoying reading, word hunting, and sorting!
Fifth graders at Barse Elementary School are enjoying a novel study and creating character "stickers" to represent characters and their characteristics from the book. They were sent a class set of the book "Amari and the Night Brothers" from the author himself, B.B. Alston!
Petway Patriots from Mrs. Nonnemacher’s class participated in their first author celebration! Students wrote their first Personal Narrative. All were unique in journaling their own personal experiences. After a few weeks of rough drafts and writing conferences, the students completed their first book. They wrote about what happened first, next and last. The students were challenged to match their illustrations with their writing, as well as employ correct punctuation and capitalization. The students read their books in front of their classmates. A special guest, Mr. Nonnemacher, was there to help with the reading and celebration. Mrs. Nonnemacher presented these authors with a writing medal and writing certificate. Keep up the great work, Petway Patriots!
Students in Ms. Bernard’s & Ms. Carbo’s classes at Dr. William Mennies School held a wedding for the letters Q & U on Friday. Students learned all about the letters Q & U throughout the week and recognized that they are always together! They celebrated the letters being best friends with a wedding! The students dressed up, performed a ceremony, and ate treats to celebrate the marriage of Q & U! A great time was had by all!

On January 4th, Vineland's new elementary Instructional Coaches came to Dallago West Preschool and paired up with the preschool's Instructional Coach & Intervention/Referral Specialist teams to visit preschool classrooms to see student learning in action. During the visit, they were able to observe the HighScope curriculum and have a hands-on experience with how preschool students learn math, science, and literacy through play. This collaboration is a positive step toward the effort to bridge the transitional gap from preschool to Kindergarten.
Students in Miss Gonzalez’s kindergarten classroom at Winslow Elementary School celebrated learning all of the letters of the alphabet with an ABC party on Thursday! Students dressed up as something that started with the first letter of their name. They enjoyed showing off their outfits and engaged in alphabet activities, including decorating letters and a “write the room” activity where they found one object for each letter of the alphabet. We are Winslow proud of how hard they have been working!
On January 9th, Dallago Preschool welcomed officers from the Vineland Police Department into their classrooms to show them their rooms and hand them personalized pictures they made for Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. The students were full of smiles while seeing the officers and could not wait to show them all their materials in the room, as well as the letters they made for them. This visit allowed students to see officers in a positive way and to know that our community helpers are here to keep us safe.

Thank you to the members of the Barse Elementary School Safety Patrol for leading the flag salute at the January 10 meeting!
Petway's Safety Patrol spread the holiday spirit by reading to the Kindergarteners! They read a variety of holiday books and enjoyed some candy canes. Kindergarteners were excited to show the older and responsible 5th graders their letter sounds. The patrol then continued spreading the spirit by working with the 2nd-grade classes to decorate cookies!
The 2nd-grade team at Petway celebrated the holidays with their 2nd annual cookie decorating event! Parents and guardians could come in and decorate cookies with their Patriots. They continued the fun by participating in a gift exchange with their classmates!
