🐻Bear Week Fun ! 🐾
This week at Petway Elementary, Mrs. White, Mrs. Renee, and Mrs. Anne’s class went on a BEARY exciting adventure learning all about bears! The students discovered lots of fun facts from how bears hibernate to what they eat and where they live. Everyone was so curious and excited to share what they learned!
To wrap up our week of bear exploration, the students made their very own Brown Bear Trail Mix filled with pretzels, marshmallows, butterscotch chips, cereal, teddy bear grahams etc . They followed their ingredient lists, mixed it all together, enjoyed a tasty sample, and even packed a snack bag to take home.
The classroom was full of smiles, laughter, and the sweet smell of learning! 🐻✨

Alexica Perez has been recognized as a Commended Student for the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program through her outstanding PSAT scores! Alexica was recently named a Semifinalist for the 2026 National Merit Scholarship program out of 16,000 potential candidates. Alexica is on track to earn her Associate's Degree from Rowan College of South Jersey through their Early College High School program.

Ms. Evans's 5th graders at Mennies had a blast during today’s Math Review Relay Race! Students worked in teams to solve problems, check their answers, and race to the finish line — all while reviewing key math concepts. The room was full of excitement, teamwork, and lots of learning!

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the students were excited to learn about the rich culture and traditions of Puerto Rico. They listened to the distinctive sound of the coquí frog, colored the Puerto Rican flag, and enjoyed a traditional treat called florecitas.
It was a special experience that sparked curiosity and brought so much excitement to our classroom!

This past Friday, October 3rd, students in Miss Veliz’s 4th Grade Bilingual Language Arts class at Sabater Elementary School participated in a Book-Tasting activity! The classroom was transformed into a cozy cafe, where students had the chance to “sample” different books and explore a variety of genres. As they read, they wrote about each book’s genre and shared their impressions of the book. To celebrate their hard work and enthusiasm, students enjoyed some yummy snacks as a special treat, as well!

First grade at Mennies was thrilled to welcome back former Dr. Mennies School Teacher Shirley Santos for Hispanic Heritage Month! The children learned all about her rich Puerto Rican roots and her love for Puerto Rico! Her presentation shared personal family photos, gave facts and history of the Puerto Rican people, and showcased many authentic show-and-tell items. Ms. Santos also entertained the students with music and dancing!
