Kimon Myrie, Londyn Allen, and Ta'myrah Woods are the Vineland High School January Dancers of the Month! Kimon is an Advanced Dance student who comes to his dance class each morning prepared to give 200% effort. Kimon loves to learn and study all styles of dance and is an incredible performer! He has been creating some incredible student choreography that will be showcased in May. Londyn is a freshman and a talented Dance 1 Student. Londyn is a quiet learner who works hard to be successful in her dance class while always supporting and encouraging her peers. Ta'myrah is a sophomore, and as she says, she "finally" got into dance class and says it is her favorite class of her day. She enters the dance studio each day with a huge smile on her face and is always ready to get moving.
These January Dancers are hard working, respectful, kind and a true pleasure to have in our VHS Dance Program!

Students in the Mennies Magnet Club enjoyed a special treat at lunch—ice cream! 🍦 These students have met the club’s high standards for attendance, behavior, and academic performance.
Mennies' Magnet Club members exemplify our core character traits and demonstrate the Portrait of a Graduate competencies. We are incredibly proud of our star students for their dedication and excellence!
Mennies School 5th-grade students applied for and were assigned jobs throughout the school, including roles on the WMEN News Crew! With the guidance of Ms. Kreck, these students work together each morning to produce our school news broadcast. They create slides, make announcements, and handle behind-the-scenes production.
This Wednesday, they welcomed special guests to assist with the flag salute. 🇺🇸 We are so proud of our 5th graders for demonstrating responsibility in their roles and making our morning news a success!
Last night, on January 29, the Olympic Honors Band delivered an incredible performance. VHS Marching Band members Colin J., Jeshua M., and Alex C. were among the talented musicians who took the stage. A special congratulations to Alex for earning the prestigious role of 1st Trumpet! We are so proud of all our VHS members and their outstanding achievements. Well done!
In Rossi Elementary School, Mrs. Jones’s first-grade class had a wonderful time learning about the Lunar New Year. The students and Mrs. Jones learned very interesting facts about this holiday while tasting delicious food from a local restaurant, Ikura, located on Landis Avenue. The class ended their lesson with a traditional Lion Dance, and they received a red envelope for good fortune.
The Vineland High School Interact Club visited Spring Oaks Assisted Living Home on January 16th. Residents and club members decorated sun catchers and colored coloring pages. Club members and residents enjoyed getting to know each other and hope to return for future visits.
On January 16th, Petway Elementary School's third-grade classes participated in a Cumberland ROCKS project with the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office. The purpose was to promote pride and positivity in Cumberland County. Each student picked a business or favorite place in Cumberland County and painted a picture on a rock to represent that particular place. All supplies were provided by the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office as part of their "Cumberland ROCKS!" initiative. The rocks will be placed at various locations around Cumberland County. When someone finds the rock, they can share the picture on social media using the hashtag #CCROCKS
On Tuesday, students in Ms. Armanini's class at Pilla Middle School read the book "A Small Brown Dog with a Wet Pink Nose." The class discussed Critical Thinking, a Portrait of a Graduate competency.
Students reflected on the importance of perseverance and creativity in problem solving. Students then acted as detectives and solved mystery math problems. The activity was designed to foster a deeper understanding of critical thinking skills and their application in real-world scenarios. The students excelled as detectives and solved the mystery!

Today, 5th-grade students in Ms. Farside's class at Sabater Elementary School participated in a gallery walk where they had the opportunity to read and evaluate each other's essays. They walked around the classroom, reviewing their peers' work, providing feedback, and discussing their thoughts. This activity not only helped them practice critical thinking and constructive criticism but also gave them a chance to see different perspectives and improve their own writing through the insights of their classmates. It was a great way to foster collaboration and enhance their writing skills.
The kindergarten classes at Dr. William Mennies Elementary School recently learned about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the important lessons he taught about fairness and kindness. The students explored Dr. King’s legacy of promoting equality and peace, and discussed how we can all be more kind and fair to one another every day.
To put their new understanding into action, the students created a beautiful Peace Tree, where they wrote down their own promises to be fair and kind. The children did an excellent job drawing pictures that represented their commitments, from sharing and helping others, to being a good friend and treating everyone equally. It was truly inspiring to see how these young minds are already embracing Dr. King's message of love and respect for all. The Peace Tree is a wonderful reminder of how small acts of kindness can make a big difference in our world.

Vineland High School’s AFJROTC recently enjoyed a visit from Mr. Ed Benish, a former Vineland Vice Principal of Sabater School. Benish brought the AFJROTC program to Vineland High in 2009, and it is now known as Unit NJ2009-1. After hearing of the unit’s outstanding inspection, he wanted to visit and congratulate all the cadets for their hard work and give a little history on how and why he worked so hard to have the Air Force grant Vineland High School the program. During his visit, he talked to the cadets about the JROTC program and what high school was like when he was here. He also encouraged us to take advantage of all the opportunities JROTC offers to help us succeed after graduation. Cadets thanked him for his time and service in the United States military and also for his dedication to the Vineland High School. Many cadets over the years have passed through C114 in the Tanner Building, known as the AFJROTC room, because of Mr. Benish.
On Monday, January 20, 2025, members of the Color Guard performed the Posting of The Colors for the MLK event presented by VAACDC and hosted by Mr. Albert Porter. Cadets helped set tables, greet honored guests, and provided needed support throughout the day. We are very proud of our cadets as several in all flights received their ribbons for earned achievements such as academic, attendance, and Wellness for the first marking period. For many of our first-year cadets, this is the first of many ribbons and awards they have the opportunity to earn this year.
Mennies held its 4th annual Family Game Night on January 23rd. The event was sponsored by a Pride in Education Grant from the Vineland Education Association. Almost 300 students and their family members came out to Mennies to enjoy a night of family, food, and fun! Families enjoyed playing board games, classic card games, floor puzzles, and even Cornhole. Delicious pizza made by Pizza Queen was served, as well as chips and water. Families were gifted with water bottles and frisbees as a thank you for attending. Vineland Education Association and school staff volunteers helped make this event a huge success!
On Thursday, January 23rd, Mrs. Madeline Galan, Mr. Alberto Jimenez, and Ms. Gracie Galan held an informational meeting at the Veterans Memorial School auditorium for the first-ever middle school international trip offered to students.
Students will travel to England for 8 days in the summer of 2026. Over 50 parents/guardians and families showed up to learn about this fantastic opportunity to explore the world. This amazing trip is open to all middle school students, parents, and VPS employees. (Please note that this trip is not sponsored by VPS).
Mrs. Rafael’s second-grade students at Barse Elementary School created structures and a shake table to simulate an earthquake and its effects on buildings!
