Last evening's Parent University at Vineland High School was a huge success! Parents were then able to attend a series of informative and engaging workshops on topics like NJ student financial aid, social media, healthy relationships, college planning, and more. Resource tables lined the halls as representatives from local colleges and community groups. Thank you to everyone who participated!

Wepa! In art class this week, students at Pauline Petway Elementary School have been busy learning about the art & culture of Puerto Rico to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month!
Ms. Marcacci was lucky enough to borrow a real Vejigante mask ( made from a coconut) to use as inspiration for her students while they worked on their paper collage versions. Vejigante are folklore characters that can be found at Carnival celebrations and bring a lively energy to the parades. This tradition stems from a fusion of cultures from the native Taino people, the Spanish and African roots.
Petway artists also learned about the beloved symbol of Puerto Rico; the Coqui tree frog. Students enjoyed creating their Coqui's while listening to salsa music and using a variety of supplies. It was great to see all the different versions and creations inspired by the spirit of Puerto Rico!!

Great family attendance at Little Lamb Preschool's annual Meet & Greet! Bus drivers and assistants welcomed the preschool students with preschool songs and colorful window clings on the bus ceiling. On the 19th, students enjoyed exercising outside with their drumsticks and keeping up with a steady beat.
The VHS varsity football team takes on the Pennsauken Indians this evening at 6 pm at historic Gittone Stadium! Come out and support the team, cheerleaders, and marching band on a beautiful evening! 🏈🐔

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Ms. Bernard’s Kindergarten class welcomed a very special surprise guest reader! One of our students’ abuelos joined us to share a bilingual counting book, reading it in both English and Spanish. The children loved hearing the story in two languages and practicing some of the Spanish words themselves! To continue the celebration, students created their own Puerto Rican flags and transformed them into colorful lanterns to take home. This hands-on project was a joyful way to connect art, culture, and learning.
Students in Mrs. Fiocchi's 4th grade class at Durand Elementary School have been busy learning about character. This project was a reminder that her students are all a part of her classroom family and each has unique traits.
Students also listened to the story “The Best Part of Me” about fourth-grade students who picked the part/feature about them they liked best. They chose their own best part and wrote a paragraph describing the part, explaining why it is their favorite part, who it reminded them of (where they got it from, like mom or dad), and lastly, how this feature can be helpful to others. Mrs. Fiocchi loves photography and truly enjoyed taking pictures of her students and turning them into art!

Math is everywhere at Mennies! Yesterday, our 4th and 5th graders discovered something amazing about the date 9/16/25: it contains THREE perfect squares (9=3², 16=4², 25=5²)!
Students worked collaboratively to find patterns, review square facts using area models, and tackle the challenge of finding the next "triple square date." The excitement when they realized it won't happen again until 2036 was priceless!

Mennies 4th and 5th graders are "back to the books" this rotation in their Library Special. Students in Ms. Shwan and Ms. Reese's 4th-grade classes excitedly made their first book selections of the school year!
Yesterday, students at Mennies learned about the importance of kind words and thinking before we speak. We crinkled the heart for each hurtful word to show students that our words matter and you cannot take them back. Each student got a bracelet of their own to take home and walk the hallways with!
Yesterday, our Vineland High School AFJROTC honored 9/11 with a special ceremony. Alpha Flight cadet leaders led the program, reading the timeline of events as administration joined them in the Tanner Building. The cadets also held a moment of silence and presented arms in salute to the flag while Taps was played. We’re proud of our students for leading and organizing this meaningful remembrance.

The VHS Asselta Counseling Team will be hosting 4 Financial Aid events in the coming months. Please mark your calendars and plan accordingly. FAFSA completion is a high school graduation requirement. The 2026-27 FAFSA form will be available Oct. 1, 2025.
Financial Aid Information Session: October 9, 2025 at 6pm in the Asselta Auditorium. A one-hour overview of the financial aid process that will provide answers to questions about grants, scholarships, and loans offered by the State of New Jersey. Feedback has shown that HESAA’s information sessions to students and their families make everyone feel more comfortable with the financial aid process and they leave with an understanding on how to apply for federal and state financial aid.
FAFSA Completion Workshops: Oct 8, 22 and November 19. Asselta Cafeteria. This is an interactive support session where HESAA staff will assist students with their FAFSA completion. These workshops run for approximately 2 hours.

Each school community came together as administrators, staff, and the new technology coaches worked side by side to make distribution day smooth, supportive, and fun. The atmosphere was filled with teamwork and celebration as students received their devices.
The program provides not only Chromebooks with data plans but also coaching and professional learning for teachers, transforming classrooms and ensuring lasting digital access. Our four schools are among 34 nationwide to join this year, bringing the total to 660 schools across the country. Altogether, 2,673 devices are being distributed to Vineland students, with an investment valued at more than $2.3 million per school.
We are excited to see how these tools will open new opportunities for our students and help them explore, create, and thrive in the years ahead.
