Mrs. Evans's 7th-grade classes at Wallace Middle School have been investigating how changes in an ecosystem impact the organisms that live there. Today, students went outside to observe the ecosystems around their school. Students were asked to observe and record their observations about the plant and animal life around them. They then had to make observations of the ways humans have altered the land around their school. Next, they had to write about a human perspective of those changes and whether they help or harm any plants and animals. Finally, students had to take the perspective of two organisms they observed and determine whether the changes to the ecosystem helped or harmed them.

Debra Waldorf’s English 3 students at Vineland High School recently completed an in-depth study of Macbeth with a creative and engaging final project: the Macbeth Museum. This interactive exhibit featured a series of posters exploring major themes from the play, designed and curated by students working individually or in small groups.
To begin, each group selected a theme to analyze. They defined their chosen theme, identified textual evidence through quotes from the play, and selected images to visually represent both the theme and the text. To enhance the visual appeal and theatricality, many students incorporated black light reflective paint and tape into their poster designs.
Incorporating both writing and speaking skills, students also composed summaries of their projects and recorded short audio presentations. These recordings were linked to the posters using QR codes, allowing museum visitors to engage with each presentation.
Students and staff were invited to tour the Macbeth Museum, listen to the audio recordings, and vote for their favorite overall presentations.
Macbeth Museum Contest Winners:
First Place: Emanuel Morales Perez
Second Place: Joanellis Medina, Karmyne Phillips, Steven Rodriguez
Third Place (Tie):
Yellow Poster: Deangelo Arce, Kenny Cosme, Lyanna Smith-Powers
Pink Poster: Ethan Jimenez, Kyleigh Margerum, Jazyah Rodriguez
Winners received bonus academic incentives: first place earned 10 extra points on a major assignment; second place earned two classwork grades upgraded to 100%; and third place winners each received one classwork grade upgraded to 100%.
Ms. Waldorf expressed pride in her students’ efforts and creativity, noting the impressive level of engagement and critical thinking demonstrated throughout the project.

As part of Petway Elementary School's ongoing commitment to community engagement and service learning, Pennies for Pups is a student-led initiative supporting local K-9 units. This meaningful project connects classroom learning with real-world impact, promoting civic responsibility and compassion for community service animals.
Each grade level participated in a coin drive competition, collecting spare change to raise funds for K-9 equipment and training. This not only encouraged teamwork and generosity, but also brought excitement and unity to our school as students worked together for a shared cause.
To boost the impact, students also partnered with Chick-fil-A for a community fundraiser night, where a portion of proceeds went directly to support the project. The event further strengthened our school’s connection with the community and local law enforcement.
The project will conclude with a K-9 demonstration in June, where officers will visit our school to showcase the skills and training of their canine partners. This live demonstration will give students a firsthand look at how their efforts make a difference and inspire continued service.

On May 21, 2025, the Vineland Preschool Program proudly hosted a successful Kindergarten Transition Workshop aimed at supporting families as they prepare their children for the next step in their educational journey.
The event was facilitated by Stephanie Staffieri, Early Childhood Supervisor; Ana Navarro, Kindergarten Teacher at Sabater Elementary; and Marisol Romano, Bilingual Instructional Coach. Their combined expertise provided valuable insights and guidance to parents during this important time of transition.
More than 30 families, representing all Vineland preschool centers, participated in the workshop. Attendees engaged in an informative session covering key aspects of Kindergarten readiness, including academic skills, social-emotional development, self-help abilities, and the critical role of daily attendance in setting students up for long-term success.
We are committed to ensuring that families feel confident and informed as their children move from preschool to Kindergarten. Workshops like this help bridge the gap and strengthen the home-school connection, which is essential for student success.
The Vineland Preschool Program thanks all participants and presenters for making the event a success.
