The teachers and students at D'Ippolito Elementary School are holding our ninth annual Great Bedtime Story Pajama Drive to benefit children. We are collecting from our students and families, and we are trying to reach out to the community to get more pajama donations to help kids in need. Anyone who would like to donate may mail new pajamas to D'Ippolito Elementary School, 1578 N. Valley Ave., Vineland, NJ 08361. We greatly appreciate any and all donations!

Our drive will run from Monday, November 3rd, through Friday, December 5th. Only brand new pajamas will be collected in all sizes from newborn through adult. The pajama drive is organized in partnership with Pajama Program, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and supporting a comforting bedtime routine for children affected by instability in order to help them thrive. Once our donations are reported to Scholastic, they will pair each set of pajamas collected with a new book, and through The Pajama Program, will be donated to a local organization. Last year, 206 sets of pajamas went to Williamstown Head Start, located at 245 Glassboro Road in Williamstown.

D'Ippolito students who donate a new pair of pajamas will be able to wear their own pjs to school on Tuesday, December 23rd, as a reward for their generous gifts.

In honor of Fire Safety Month, kindergarten classes at Mennies Elementary School spent the week learning all about how to prevent fires and stay safe in an emergency.

Students created informational flipbooks illustrating what can cause fires and how to stay safe at home and school. They also made their very own fire truck crafts, complete with bright red engines and ladders — a fun way to connect creativity with real-world learning and even practiced stop, drop, & roll!

The highlight of the week was a special visit from the Vineland Fire Department. 🚒 Firefighters talked with students about the importance of fire safety, explained how their equipment works, and showed off their impressive red ladder truck. The children loved getting an up-close look and asking questions about what firefighters do to keep our community safe.

We are so grateful to the Vineland Fire Department for taking the time to visit and inspire our students. Thank you for helping our kindergartners learn to be brave, prepared, and fire safe! ❤️👩‍🚒👨‍🚒

On Thursday, November 16, 2025, students from the RISE and RISING STARS programs came together for the annual Harvest Hoedown Dance, a festive evening filled with music, laughter, and friendship. The event provided a welcoming and natural setting for students to practice important social and communication skills in a fun, engaging way.

The dance floor came alive with students enjoying music, dancing, and fall-themed activities. From posing for photos in front of the autumn backdrop to sharing snacks and conversations with friends, students had many opportunities to connect and build confidence in social interactions.

Events like the Harvest Hoedown are an important part of both programs’ missions—to create meaningful experiences that help students develop the social skills they need to succeed in school, at work, and in their communities. Teachers, paraprofessionals, and volunteers helped make the evening a success by decorating, serving refreshments, and joining the students on the dance floor to encourage participation and fun. A special thank you to our DJ, Mr. Noel Ortiz for his time, love and smooth sounds.

The smiles and laughter shared throughout the night reflected the sense of community and belonging that makes the RISE and RISING STARS programs so special. The Harvest Hoedown was more than just a dance—it was a celebration of friendship, growth, and the joy of coming together.

Fall Fest Fun was in full swing at Little Lamb Preschool! Students went outside to the school pumpkin patch, where they learned the different parts of the pumpkin. Students then selected their own pumpkin. Special thanks to Ryan Ploch (from Ploch Farms), who donated pumpkins to each student and teacher! A week later, students dressed in costumes and walked around the school property to gather sweet treats! Kudos to our families who donated the treats! We appreciate the support!

Twenty-seven Vineland High School students were recently named AP Scholars for the 2024-25 school year, as announced by the College Board this month. Every year, the College Board’s AP Program recognizes high school students who have demonstrated outstanding college-level achievement through their performance on multiple AP Exams.
AP Scholar Awards have different distinctions, depending on how many tests are taken and the scores on those tests, among others. Of the 27 VHS students who received honors:
- 17 earned the distinction of AP Scholar - Granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams.
- Five earned AP Scholar With Honor - Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.
- Four were AP Scholars with Distinction - Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.
- Two earned the AP Capstone diploma
- Five earned the AP Seminar and Research Certificate.
“We proudly recognize the achievements of students who participated in the AP Capstone Diploma program,” said Ross Stanger, the AP Coordinator for Vineland High School. “Our AP Capstone students and teachers displayed exceptional dedication to this impactful, multi-academic-year program where they got to explore their passions through scholarly research. This is a meaningful college readiness program that will serve our students well after high school.”
VHS currently offers over 30 AP courses. All tests are free of charge for these students in recognition of their pursuit of the most rigorous coursework available.
To receive the AP Capstone Diploma, students must earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar, AP Research, and on four additional AP Exams of their choice. To receive the AP Seminar and Research Certificate, students must earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research. Students are increasingly participating in the AP Capstone TM program.
Unlike traditional AP subject exams with a single end-of-year assessment, AP Seminar and AP Research assessments are project-based and evaluate skills mastery through group projects, presentations, and individual essays completed throughout the year. Instead of focusing on one specific academic discipline, AP Seminar and AP Research are interdisciplinary: students are encouraged to create research projects based on topics of personal interest. Students are assessed on the critical thinking, research, collaboration, time management, and presentation skills needed to complete their projects.

The following students earned the awards:

Keyaun Afsharkhah, AP Scholar; Mayumi Andrews, AP Scholar with Honor; Robert Chapdelaine, AP Scholar, AP Seminar and Research Certificate; Brian Cruz Rojas, AP Scholar; Josephina Egbeh, AP Scholar with Honor; Danica Fiester, AP Scholar; Dulce Flores, AP Scholar, AP Seminar and Research Certificate; Aalilah Folk, AP Scholar with Distinction; Chris Gagnon, AP Scholar; Alex Garcia, AP Scholar; Michaela Giuliani, AP Scholar with Distinction, AP Capstone Diploma; Diego Gonzalez, AP Scholar; Kaan Gundogdu, AP Scholar; Japuji K. Jaswal, AP Scholar; Colin Jones, AP Scholar; Manroop Kaur, AP Scholar; Erin Kraus, AP Scholar, SP Seminar and Research Certificate; Christine Lam, AP Scholar; Alexica Perez, AP Scholar with Distinction; Juan Ramirez, AP Scholar with Honor, AP Capstone Diploma; Khloe Rivera, AP Scholar with Honor; Erik Santiago-Beteta, AP Scholar; Sarah Santiago, AP Scholar with Honor; Chad Sciore, AP Scholar, AP Seminar and Research Certificate; Robert Steele, AP Seminar and Research Certificate; Marissa Strickland, AP Scholar; Paulina Tomlin, AP Scholar with Distinction.

Students in Mr. Breese’s Hispanic History and Culture class and Mr. Vera’s Bilingual World History class at Vineland High School recently teamed up to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.

Working in groups and using both English and Spanish, students created and presented games that explored the purpose and significance of Hispanic Heritage Month. Since both classes were studying Meso-American civilizations and Spanish colonization, the teachers collaborated on a project that allowed students to connect their lessons in a creative way.

Students enjoyed making and playing each other’s games, evaluating them with rubrics, and even dressing in traditional clothing to mark the occasion.
