Mrs. Rowe, Ms. Sonia, and Ms. Iryna’s class had a blast learning all about rainbows during ESY!
Students enjoyed listening to How the Crayons Saved the Rainbow, practiced calming “Rainbow Relaxation” techniques, made “walking rainbows,” explored light and color with mirrors and water, and even created vibrant salt paint rainbows.
It was a week full of color, creativity, and fun!

The first week of ESY was truly Out of This World for Mr. Martine and Ms. Ocasio’s class and for Ms. Soto and Ms. D’s class. Both groups of students launched into learning with space-themed activities that sparked curiosity, creativity, and joy. They read about the inspiring journey of astronaut Mae Jemison, wrote their personal goals on shooting stars, and searched for hidden “moon rocks” in sensory bins. From imaginative play to thoughtful reflection, our young explorers made the most of their first week.

Vineland Public Schools will host its second annual Back to School Extravaganza on Monday, August 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Gittone Stadium, 61 W. Landis Ave.
The FREE event will feature games and activities, community vendors, free snacks, basket raffles, and much more! Each of our district schools and several departments will be on hand to assist families and get into that back-to-school spirit.

While summer offers a much-needed opportunity to relax, it also allows students to maintain and sharpen their reading and math skills as they prepare for the upcoming school year.
District curriculum supervisors have created a list of grade-appropriate assignments and resources to assist students in reviewing and maintaining essential skills over the summer months. Summer assignments for students entering PreK-5 are voluntary; however, practicing literacy and math skills is strongly recommended. It will help students maintain and improve their reading and math skills as they prepare for their new grade in September.
Please be advised that Summer reading assignments for students entering 6th - 12th are required. Due dates for required assignments are noted on each document.

Sarah Friedley's art exploration classes at VHS spent the last week of school learning about ancient shibori tie-dye techniques. Students culminated the lesson by choosing a technique to tie-dye their own T-shirt.
Sarah Friedley's art exploration classes at Vineland High School participated in creating a mosaic this year. The students in her classes worked with the resident artist Gail Scuderi. They took part in every aspect of the project, from planning to grouting. The funding for this 20-day residency was provided by Young Audiences Arts Lab, a grant valued at over $14,500. The Mosaic is located in the cafeteria of the Asselta Building.
Mrs. Bertonazzi and Ms. Caterina’s 2nd grade class at Mennies participated in their annual Glow Day. The 2nd grade Glow Day turned learning into a memorable, hands-on experience. Each center was rooted in strong educational practices that encourage review, engagement, and deeper retention of skills- all while building classroom community and joy in the final days of school!
Huge congratulations to VHS Dance for placing 3rd and earning the Bronze Medal at the NJ Teen Arts State Festival! This is such an honor to have placed among all of the dance programs in the State of NJ. Way to go, dancers!
Happy Birthday from the Mennies Safety Patrol! Patrol members completed their final service project today by assembling Birthday Cake Kits. These kits are pantry-friendly as they make a cake using soda instead of eggs, oil, and water. Students recently ran a Birthday Box drive among the Mennies staff. We thank everyone for their thoughtful donations! Assembled kits will be donated to the local soup kitchen, and some kits will be on hand for any of our Mennies families, ensuring that all kids and adults can enjoy a birthday cake on their special day!
This year, Dr. Mennies First Grade CIRCUS turns 49 years old!
First graders were thrilled to once again perform this long standing tradition.There was a ringmaster, acrobats, trapeze artists, snake charmers, elephants, lions, musclemen, and Mrs. Gallina’s Clown Troop.
The original Circus began in 1976 under the direction of a former Mennies first-grade teacher, Mrs. Linda Gallina. Mrs. Gallina taught at Dr. Mennies School for 26 years, and it was her creativity and ideas that brought the circus to life.
After Mrs. Gallina retired in 2006, the circus tradition continued in the first grade at Mennies School. On June 10, 2025, Mrs. Hadley's class gave an exciting performance filled with sparkles, smiles, and lots of applause. The audience was filled with students, present and retired staff members, and proud parents who truly enjoyed THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH!
DiBiase Preschool wrapped up the school year with a Preschool Prom, Moving Up ceremonies, and Field Day! We would like to wish everyone a safe, happy, and fun-filled summer break! See you in September!!
