🥧 Throw Pi, Not Shade! 🥧
Ever wanted to see your favorite (or least favorite) staff member get a face full of whipped cream? Now is your chance!

We’re kicking off our Pi Day Fundraiser, and the stakes are high. The three staff members who receive the most donations will get PIED in front of everyone!

📍 The Details:
When: March 2–13

Where: All Lunch Periods in the Cafeteria

Why: To support our Pilla Pi Night on March 16!

❓ How it Works:
Find the donation station in the cafeteria during lunch.

Drop your donation into the jar of the staff member you want to see "take a slice."

All donations are welcome! Every cent brings us closer to a face full of pie.

Who’s getting pied? You decide! Let’s make this Pi Day one to remember. 🥧✨

Students in Miss Welden and Ms. Franco's 7th grade ELA classes analyzed informational texts, literary texts, and video clips to gather information about Holocaust artifacts. They focused on evaluating the artifacts and their significance to the original owners. Students developed a deeper connection to how The Holocaust affected the individuals who experienced it and the damaging effects it left behind. Students then choose an artifact to recreate and present to their peers.

Pilla PGC peer mentors led a Family Night event last week to celebrate their work as mentors this year. In PGC, eighth grade mentors work with small groups of sixth graders throughout the school year to help them build skills needed for success in middle school.

After dinner and some icebreakers, parents, siblings, and teachers joined in an outreach together with their students that was designed to encourage communication and understanding. We are so proud of our eighth grade mentors and sixth grade participants!

Our Safety Patrol spread the love this Valentine’s Day! 💕

In just two days of sales, we sold nearly 100 Valentine’s Day candy grams, each delivered with a sweet heart-shaped lollipop. Thank you to everyone who supported us - this was a very successful fundraiser and a wonderful way to share kindness throughout our school! 🍭❤️

To showcase their learning, students choose from three creative project options:
Option 1: Locked Ballot Box Timeline
Option 2: Timeline Cube
Option 3: Voting Rights Board Game Timeline

Each project highlighted key events, amendments, and turning points that shaped who has the right to vote in our country. Students demonstrated strong research skills, creativity, and a deeper understanding of how voting rights have evolved over time.

From Ms. Morris, our school nurse:

As you may be aware, upcoming changes to New Jersey Medicaid are expected to impact eligibility for some children and families beginning January 1, 2027. With redetermination and potential coverage terminations approaching, we are proactively working to minimize any gaps in care. Over the next several months we are working to bring additional access to care to as many students as possible.
"CompleteCare Health Network's Health Solutions program" offers medical and dental programs to help with children's healthcare needs.

What's Included:
Dental "Smile Smart Program" - provides students with exams, x-rays, extractions, and cleanings.

Medical - physicals, wellness exams, and/or immunizations, and more.

Please either fill out the attached form or stop by the office to pick one up. Once you fill it out, please return it to our school nurse.

If you are interested, please contact Ms. Morris for a health solutions packet at smorris@vineland.org or 691-1801 x3108. Packets can be returned to our nurse.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Contagious illnesses are circulating this time of year and we want to keep our students feeling their best. A few precautions can make a big difference in keeping illness from spreading throughout our school community.

Please remember our school district's health policy:
Students must be fever-free, vomit-free, and diarrhea-free for at least 24 hours WITHOUT the use of medication before returning to school.

Keep your child home if they have:

Fever of 100.0F or higher

2 or more episodes of vomiting or diarrhea

Very runny noses and/or frequent sneezing or coughing

If your child is absent 3 or more consecutive days, it is recommended to provide a note from his/her primary health care provider. If your child's doctor medically cleared them to return to school, please medicate your child for their symptoms prior to the start of the school day.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping keep our students and staff healthy during this busy season. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns. Happy Holidays!

Students in Ms Armanini's class turned into chefs and put extra love into their Life Skills lesson. Students made heart-shaped pizzas from start to finish — planning, prepping, and cooking together. Hands-on experiences like these help build independence and confidence — plus a little fun along the way!
