Rossi Elementary students Lindsay Trowsdale and Mia Upshaw created their own service project through the Rossi WISE Student Ambassadors. Mia, (President) and Lindsay (Vice President) made bracelets in their free time and then sold them to friends and family. They raised $60! They then asked the Student Ambassadors to donate items for animals at the SPCA. Mia and Lindsay just recently donated all of the items along with their raised money to SPCA. This is what this program is all about! These girls are amazing individuals who wanted to give back to the community. Way to go, girls!

Petway School is adding something special to its playgrounds. Mrs. Dorsey and her Speech students put two communication boards on the playgrounds so that all students can talk without their voices. Mrs. Holt, Mrs. Snodgrass, and Mrs. Diorio's classes can use the communication board to talk to other students using pictures. This is a great way for all students to express their needs without words.
Petway School is proud to be a Total Communication school. We communicate with each other using words, ASL, Picture (PECs) Boards, electronic devices, and even a little creative dance.

Tiny Tots Preschool teamed up with Mennies Elementary School this week! Our future kindergarteners were able to visit Mennies School to get a glimpse of their very near future. The trip consisted of several exciting things! Tiny Tots students could visit kindergarten classrooms, the library, the cafeteria, the gym, and other rooms. It was an exciting experience that has our soon-to-be kindergartners another step closer to preparation for big kid school.
Thank you Mennies!

Mennies loved having Tiny Tots preschool visit this week. Students got to tour the school, visit the kindergarten classrooms, and meet Cole the Deaf Dog! We are super excited to welcome our new kindergarten students next school year!

Attention VHS students!

Just a reminder! This Friday, May 17, is a legal attendance day (half day) for all schools due to PM teacher workshops. Please make appropriate transportation arrangements or, if your children ride a bus, to have someone available to greet them.

On Tuesday, May 14th, the Sabater Safety Patrol visited the South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter. While there, students were able to read to the cats and dogs in the facility. Judging from all the tail-wagging, gentle purrs, and "This is the best day ever!" comments, the dogs, cats, and students all had a paw-some time!

In preparation for the NJSLA State Testing, Mennies students walked into the school last week to supportive messages written on the sidewalk by Mrs. Gannon's art students. Next, students received a surprise gift with the "You Know It, Now Show It" testing theme such as a bracelet, pencil, or bookmark. Finally, Mennies staff held a pep rally to get motivated for the test. Mr. Hannah & Cole, Mrs. Weir, and Mrs. Seda gave test prep strategies and calming tools. Mrs. Lovisone inspired students to do their best and "Show What They Know." Finally, Cole led students through the hallways, where they were encouraged by signs and posters made by the Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd graders at Mennies.

Mrs. Moyer's third-grade students at Mennies led a service learning project where they collected and donated their old preschool books to our Vineland Preschool students. Mrs. Moyer, Mrs. Staffieri, and Mrs. Weir teamed up to teach them about the steps of a service learning project. They learned about the planning and preparation phases and went through the steps of implementation and reflection. The students were excited to give back and help throughout each step of the process.

Vineland Public Schools Assistant Superintendent Dr. Nathan Frey visited his alma mater, Marie D. Durand Elementary School, to create a pinch pot just like he did when he attended in 1979. He joined a second-grade art class and followed Mrs. Lampropoulos’ step-by-step instructions and clay techniques, just like the students. Dr. Frey also discussed how art and science are connected, as students learned where clay is harvested and how it is processed to make pottery. At the end of the lesson, students had the opportunity to ask Dr. Frey questions about his experience at Durand, specifically in the art room. Mrs. Lampropoulos and Durand's students loved his visit and look forward to him coming back to glaze his pot!

Stop out to the Vineland FFA Plant Sale this Saturday, May 18th! We have an array of vegetables, herbs, and flowers, including newly added vegetable plants! The Vineland Green Fair will also be on the Vineland High School campus. All funds raised support student leadership activities and competitions. Cash Only.

The YMCA Preschool Green Room students experimented with bubbles! Students were asked to predict what would happen when they attempted to blow bubbles in plain water. They correctly predicted a bubble would appear...but the bubbles quickly popped! Students then predicted what would happen if we added a small amount of dish soap. Predictions were that the bubbles would stay, there would be big bubbles, and they could get lots of bubbles. All of the predictions were correct! Students had a blast blowing bubbles and covering their trays with as many bubbles as possible.

Thirteen students from Vineland High School/AMSA have achieved a significant milestone in their academic journey by earning the requirements for their associate degrees from Rowan College of South Jersey. On May 9, these students were honored for their dedication and hard work at the RCSJ-Cumberland Commencement Ceremony.
The achievement of these students was celebrated earlier on April 22 during the annual High School Collegiate Scholar Ceremony (HSCSC). This event, designed to recognize students who completed their RCSJ degree requirements concurrent with high school completion, highlighted the outstanding commitment of these students to their education.
Among the students who have completed their RCSJ degree requirements are: Kelianne Burgess, Lucas Cruz, Nathan Freites, Landon Gentile-Adamson, Isabel Martinez, Brianna Mosley, Rohan Patel, Xavien Phillips, Arshveer Sehgal, Xavier Sudal, Juliana Tirado, Lianna Velazquez, and Lawren Whitesell.
These students have demonstrated academic excellence, resilience, determination, and a passion for learning. We congratulate them on this remarkable achievement and wish them continued success in all their future endeavors!

Eight Vineland Public Schools elementary students participated in the 30th Annual South Jersey Elementary Honors Band Festival on Saturday, May 11, 2024. The festival took place at Egg Harbor Twp. High School with 400 students from all over southern New Jersey. We're excited to bring you an update on a remarkable restoration project undertaken by the Vineland High School Historical Committee (VHSHC) in collaboration with the community. The Landis National Landmark sign, once a proud fixture in front of Landis School, fell into disrepair and was placed in storage. Thanks to the dedication of VHSHC student members and the support of local businesses, this piece of Vineland's history has been lovingly restored to its former glory.
Landis School holds a special place in Vineland's heritage, being the first structure in the city to be listed on the National Registry for Sites and Structures in New Jersey. The firm of Watson and Henry from Bridgeton, NJ oversaw the design of the sign and structure built to showcase it.
After Landis School earned the official historic designation, the State Historic Registry awarded Landis school hundreds of thousands of dollars to upgrade the building, highlighting its architectural beauty and design. Watson and Henry's main responsibility was to oversee the construction of the structure to meet all the criteria and allocation of funds while maintaining its historical integrity.
The VHSHC is very thankful to Parrish Signs for donating their expertise, time and energy to repair the sign at no cost to the Vineland taxpayers. The Parrish Family is a three generation VHS family, and is keenly aware of the uniqueness of having one of our schools designated as a Historical Landmark proudly displayed at our city's main entrance.
The VHSHC is proud to preserve and share Vineland’s rich history. We are hopeful that the sign will be on display again in the near future.

This week was filled with wonder and amazement as Miss Perry's kindergarten class at Winslow Elementary School watched butterflies emerge right before our eyes! 🐛 We've been eagerly observing their journey since April 22nd when they were just tiny caterpillars. 🌱 Now, after their incredible transformation from caterpillars into chrysalises, they have finally emerged as beautiful butterflies! 🦋

The Class of 2024 is gearing up for their Project Graduation adventure, set to commence after the traditional graduation proceedings at Gittone Stadium On June 18. Project Graduation began as an engaging way to keep graduates safe and sober during their graduation night, and has been a great success since its inception. With costs typically ranging from $30,000 to $50,000, funding primarily stems from community fundraisers and local donations. Allen Associates has been a loyal supporter of Project Graduation, generously contributing $5,000 to the cause. Vineland High School extends its heartfelt appreciation to Allen Associates for their unwavering support.

First-grade students at Sabater Elementary enjoyed practicing their reading skills with a Story Walk outside of the Library! Think of it as a stroll through an art gallery, but instead of art pieces, the students are immersed in a book. They enjoyed stopping at each of the prompts, looking at the colorful pictures, and interacting with the book in a unique way.

Come see these talented dancers perform in the Annual Spring Dance Concert TONIGHT, May 9th, at 6:30 pm! Tickets are $5 and sold at the door, cash only. We hope to see you there!
