This week, students in room 3 at DiBiase Preschool made Christmas countdown chains at small group time. This helped them practice their fine motor skills by cutting the chain pieces; then, they were glued to form a chain. The children counted how many days until Christmas break so they knew just how long their chain needed to be. Every morning at greeting time, they remove a link from their chain and count how many days are left until Christmas break!

Twenty-nine Vineland High School Students from AP Politics & Government and the Model Congress Club participated in the NJ Model Congress 'Party Day' at the NJ State House in Trenton on Friday, December 13. Sitting in the same desks and committee rooms as the state legislature, students competed with peers from a dozen other high schools to form three political parties, debate and write party platforms, and elect their party leaders. Students will next learn parliamentary procedure and write bills they hope to pass into law in March at the 2025 NJ Model Congress at Rider University.

Petway students from Ms. Dulap and Ms. McGrail's classes joined Mrs. Holt's class for some Holiday Science Experiments! The students placed candy canes on a plate of baking soda and then slowly added vinegar on top. Then, in a jar of vinegar, they added crushed candy canes and then slowly dropped baking soda into the mixture. The results were very different... Try this to find your own results!

Mrs. Gloway’s third-grade students at Sabater have been learning about forces and motion. On Friday, December 13, they became bridge designers. They were tasked to make a truss or an arch bridge using only paper. No tape, no glue. They could fold or cut the paper to increase the strength. Several groups were able to make a structure that could hold 40 pennies. Fun and learning was the name of day!

A huge Winslow shoutout to our PTO and staff volunteers for their time and efforts in putting together our Milk and Cookies with Santa event! Students and their families were able to go on a magical journey creating reindeer food, decorating cookies, making snowball shooters, creating holiday characters through sticker art, writing letters to Santa, enjoying cookies and hot cocoa, and a special visit with Santa himself. To share our love of reading at Winslow, each student went home with a book of their choice! We would like to wish all of our students and families a very happy holiday season!

It was super cold outside, so the students in room 5 at DiBiase Preschool decided it was a perfect day for hot cocoa! During small groups, they discussed what ingredients they would need to make hot cocoa and what steps they would take to make it. After making their cocoa, they made a chart to see who liked it plain, with marshmallows, whipped cream, or didn't like it at all. ☕

Ms. Bussott's 8th Grade Art periods at Johnstone Middle School have been working on Christmas Trees inspired by the artist Yayoi Kusama. Filling the inside of their Christmas Trees with different patterns, students either created their own brand new patterns or pulled inspired designs from the artist they learned about. Students cut out their trees and placed them anywhere in the school hallways to help spread holiday cheer!
