On October 7 and 8, the Pilla Safety Patrol was out in full force at the Wheaton Arts Festival of Fine Crafts, and they made quite an impression! Our dedicated volunteers had the unique opportunity to "patrol" the mesmerizing Glass Pumpkin Patch, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees.
But it wasn't all work and no play for our fantastic team. They also had the chance to immerse themselves in the festivities, enjoying a delightful array of unique crafts and relishing the top-notch entertainment. And, of course, no festival experience is complete without savoring the delectable food offerings on hand.
Pilla Safety Patrol truly represented our community with pride, and we couldn't be happier with their contribution. Their commitment to safety and their enthusiastic participation made the Wheaton Arts Festival of Fine Crafts an unforgettable event for all who attended. We are so Pilla Proud of our amazing volunteers! 💛💙

Assistant Superintendent Nathan Frey paid a visit to Sabater Elementary School and was met by excited students eager to show off their pumpkin artwork!
SpeakUp! Is an awesome opportunity for Vineland High School Students, school adults, parents, and community members to come together and have open, honest conversations about the topics that are most important to the students. This is 100% student-led, and we would love to have as many parents and community members attend as possible!

Veterans Memorial School observed a week of Respect from October 2-6. Students participated in daily Respect lessons and activities during all of their classes. Each day students were "challenged" to respect themselves, others, the environment, and our school. Staff gave out Caught Roaring Tickets to students when they were observed being respectful.
At Mennies Elementary School, Mrs. Myerson's 1st graders and Mr. Bogut's 5th graders will be "buddying up" each month this year to create meaningful connections. For their first meeting, they engaged in a "Get to Know Your New Friend" activity, where they learned about each other's favorite things. It was heartwarming to see how the students quickly opened up and communicated well with each other. Everyone is looking forward to our next meeting with our new buddies!
Bilingual first-grade students from Ms. Mercado's class at Sabater Elementary School are proud of their very first original English sentences with ESL teacher Ms. Markman!
The VHS Dancers did an AMAZING job performing at Friday's Pep Rally! Ms. Hall is so proud of them all! They have put in countless rehearsal hours in preparation for this performance and danced their hearts out. Also pictured are some of the VHS Senior Dancers. These talented dancers represented their senior class in today's pep rally performance!
Vineland High School art students had the opportunity to visit Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ on Friday. The students had an amazing time!

Students, staff, and families from Little Lamb Preschool visited Duffield’s Farm! Everyone enjoyed the hayride, pumpkin picking, feeding the farm animals, going through the hay maze, exploring the learning barn, and playing in the various gross motor areas. Prior to the trip, teachers read farm books to the students. New vocabulary was introduced and small group learning (measuring) was based on real-world experiences. This trip was made possible by our preschool supervisors, district, and board. Everyone had a great time!
Dallago Preschool completed fire prevention week with a visit from the Vineland Fire Department. Students were able to see a firefighter get dressed in their protective gear, received high-fives from the firefighter in gear (which is great for our students so they know not to be afraid if someone enters their house in this uniform), and were able to go inside of the fire truck! The students and staff had a great experience!
Durand Elementary School students had the opportunity to connect with wildlife as they enjoyed up-close interactions with amazing animals from the Cape May Park & Zoo. Students learned about snakes, armadillos, bearded dragons, and crocodiles. Durand students were WILD about this great assembly!

Vineland High School South Media Center hosted a Hispanic Heritage Celebration on October 5th and October 6th. Students from various classes came to participate in activities such as Papel Picado, Dominos, Ojo De Dios, and more. The Select Choir performed a beautiful rendition of Pablo Neruda's poem "Aqui Te Amo" led by choir teacher Mrs. Lori Cummines-Huck.
There were also lively musical performances by former Spanish Teacher Jeff Munsick and student-led Mariachi Band which included Ayden Rivera, Aldo Matias, Eloy Cruz-Geronimo, Jose Miguel, and Eduardo Martinez.
In addition, Mr. Breese's Hispanic History classes created posters that reflect "What it means to be Hispanic?" and Mrs. Parent's and Mrs. Friedley's Art classes created beautiful Papel Picados.

Library and Art classes collaborated at Barse Elementary School this week! Fourth and fifth-grade students at Barse learned about the famous Mexican artist Pedro Linares and the story behind his famous mythical creatures, Alebrijes, in the Library with Mrs. Loveland. Students then created and designed their own paper sculpture Alebrijes in Art class with Ms. Schmittinger.

The Inclusive Childcare Project at SPAN Parent Advocacy Network is excited to announce they are offering Positive Solutions for Families (virtually) this fall. Positive Solutions for Families is a multi-session, evidence-based program designed to help families support the social-emotional needs of their children while also gaining resources to navigate challenging behavior.
