Mr. D's kindergarten class at Mennies has been working hard to become amazing authors and illustrators! This week, during writing, students learned how to stretch and sound out words and the important rule that names always start with a capital letter. Their hard work paid off, and they were so proud of their writing! Keep up the great work, future storytellers!

Congratulations to the VHS March Dancers of the Month: Riley Pearce, Cameron Amberths, and Sol Colon Alvarez. Riley is a junior and in the Advanced Dance class. Riley is a strong dancer who has become an Amazing choreographer this year. We hope you will attend the Spring Dance Concert on May 22nd to see the debut of his incredible contemporary piece titled "Game of Survival." Cameron is a sophomore in the Dance 2 course. Cameron has grown leaps and bounds in the dance program; he is one of our most enthusiastic dancers, attends all of our after-school auditions, and works incredibly hard! Cameron has also created his first piece of choreography this year, a hip-hop dance that the dancers are having a lot of fun with. Sol is a junior in a Dance 1 course. Sol brings a sweet enthusiasm for dance to the studio each day. She is supportive of her peers and an incredible dancer! Sol also puts in countless rehearsal hours after school to refine choreography! Congratulations Dancers!

On Friday, March 28th, VHS marine science students were visited by Alex Ambrose. Ms. Amborse is a PhD student at Rutgers University and is currently based at Haskin Shellfish Lab. As part of her research, she created an interactive activity that uses real underwater footage collected from shellfish farms to bridge the classroom with real-world research in marine science. In teams, the students watched various video clips, made observations, developed hypothesis driven questions, fostering skills in scientific inquiry and critical thinking. This exercise provided students with an opportunity to engage with real scientific data while learning about ecosystems supported by shellfish aquaculture.

Eighth-grade students in Ms. Keramidaris' classes at Johnstone School celebrated the coming of March and spring by wearing a "Marti." This red and white bracelet symbolizes Spring coming, and it is worn to protect the person from the strong sun. At the end of the month, students took off their "Marti" and tied it on tree branches so that the birds could make nests. This is a Greek tradition, and many European countries celebrate March this way.

Mr. Greg Bartholomew's Chemistry students at Vineland High School measured the number of moles of chalk that they used after they drew with playground chalk on the parking lot. Students first measured the mass of their chalk and then had time to free-draw anything that they wanted on the parking lot. Some students chose to compete in tic-tac-toe, while others drew their favorite cartoon such as Spongebob Squarepants, while more artistically-inclined students drew more extravagant designs. After a few minutes, students returned to the classroom and re-weighed their chalk. They then calculated the number of moles of chalk (or calcium carbonate) (CaCO3) left on the parking lot by using Avogadro's number and mathematical calculations. Students enjoyed getting outside on a beautiful day and were highly engaged. The lesson had students 'doing science' and applying Chemistry concepts in a fun, hands-on way!

Mr. McClain's journalism students eagerly gathered in the Dennis Tanner Media Center as they awaited the arrival of a special guest speaker. Michael Biddinger, a seasoned professional from T&F Camera, has graciously agreed to share his expertise on the captivating world of photography. As he began his presentation, the students listened intently, taking in all his wisdom. Mr. Biddinger delved into the intricacies of various photographic forms, from the classic elegance of black and white portraits to the vibrant energy of action shots. He shared insider tips on composition, lighting, and the art of capturing the perfect moment. The students marveled at the stunning examples of Mr. Biddinger's work, each image telling a compelling story and evoking powerful emotions. Michael helped expand their knowledge and helped in providing them with ideas on how to be an amazing storyteller and help them create journalism that truly captivates and informs their readers.

Inspira's RAFT YDS, Nayomi Roman, worked the whole month of March with Wallace staff and students to participate in a school-wide competition based on nutrition. Ms. Nayomi prepared nutrition facts each Monday and, on Friday, would send out a quiz for teachers to do with their 9th-period class. Each week, teachers would complete the quiz, and those qualified, based on correct answers and speed of response, would move forward on the bracket. The last two teams, Ms. Ecret and Ms. Kozora's 9th-period classes, competed in a Jeopardy-style competition where the winners received a prize of a week of dressing down! Congratulations to Ms. Ecret's Class!
