What is Service Learning? Service-Learning is more than just simply volunteering. In the process of service to their school and/or community, students learn a great deal about themselves and their responsibilities as a citizen while making connections with what they are learning in school.
Earning Service Learning hours is a graduation requirement beginning with the Class of 2022! Students MUST earn a minimum of 50 hours by the end of their senior year. To start, we encourage 10 service learning hours during freshman year. However, students may earn as many hours as they would like towards their 50 hours. Any student that earns 100 service learning hours will receive a cord to wear at graduation to reward their outstanding volunteerism and service to our community.
Please see Mrs. Dittus (South Guidance Office), Mr. Lapsley (North Building), Mrs. Craig (Assistant Principal, North Building) or your guidance counselor for additional information. All students must submit their service hours to their guidance counselor by May of each school year. However, students are encouraged to turn in their logs whenever they have completed their service learning for the year or have completed 10 hours.
**Due to Virtual Learning, we encourage students to scan or take a picture of their completed logs and email them to their guidance counselor or Mrs. Kristina Craig.
