VPS Technology Mission Statement
In
order to prepare students for an increasingly
technological world, the Vineland Public Schools
believe that all students should learn to access
technology to gather, evaluate, process, and
represent information in meaningful ways. We
view technology as a critical tool for improving
academic achievement for all students, to prepare
them for what the future may bring and to encourage
them to engage in lifelong learning. As such,
the integration of technology into curriculum
and instruction to improve student achievement
is addressed in the Vineland Public Schools technology
plan. As part of the district's initiatives to
address the NCLB Act Title II-D Part 1, the main
focus of this curriculum seeks to improve technology
literacy for all students.About
UsThe
Vineland Public School District is a local leader
in technology. We have one of the largest Metropolitan
Area Networks in the country. The City of Vineland
is sixty-nine square miles and in a joint venture
with the Vineland Municipality Electric Utility,
we have run fiber optics to connect 22 school
buildings and 5 City buildings throughout Vineland.
Here at the Plum Street Board of Education Building
we host the Internet Services for the district.
This consists of a 10meg ATM connection to the
Internet through our provider SNIP. We have onsite
several Internet servers that run Windows 2000
(running Apache), Linux. They host a range of
Internet Services including WWW, E-mail, Intranet,
FTP, DNS, and DHCP.
