Our Mission: The mission of the Academy of Science and Engineering is to provide a firm educational foundation in the areas of math and science enhanced by problem-solving and engineering applications. Emphasis is placed upon the critical thinking.
Community Descritpion: This community is designed to allow students to explore their interests and career options in the areas of science and mathematics. Students will apply classroom topics to hands-on activities including laboratory experimentation and original research. Students are encouraged to invent and create while exercising problem-solving and critical thinking skills. The coursework provided will lead to investigations in chemistry, physics, meteorology, and aerospace studies.
Goals:
Students will:
- invent, create, design and build;
- promote a math and science curriculum that integrates technology;
- incorporate a hands-on approach to learning which emphasizes teamwork, problem-solving strategies and scientific investigation;
- increase collaboration and communication among subjects through cross-content and activities;
- address work-force readiness through portfolio development and resume writing; and
- investigate the historical impact and ethics related to scientific and technological advances in society.
