School of Animals, Plants and Environmental Sciences

Administrator:Mr. Ross Stanger, Vineland High School, 856-794-6800, ext. 2891

Mission: Students in the school of Animals, Plants and Environmental Sciences will develop skills specific to working with animals and plants, and gain a strong foundation of morals, values, and ethics through a blend of required courses and electivPhoto: Streames. Ultimately our mission is to graduate students who are prepared to succeed in a variety of ventures because of the diversity of courses available, the devotion, and experiences .

Community Description: Despite the recent trend toward urbanization, Vineland’s roots are clearly rural.  Many people in Cumberland County continue to prosper working in industries that involve daily contact with animals or plants.  Students will be able to enter with interests in animals, plants, and the environment and expand upon them.  Our courses will prepare students for work in fields such as veterinary or animal care, horticulture, landscaping, marine biology, water quality maintenance, or aquarium/fisheries management.   Students will be able to apply what they learn in school to real-life experiences such as internships and summer jobs that are planned in conjunction with local businesses such as pet stores, veterinary offices, landscaping companies, local nurseries and greenhouses, and environmental companies. The faculty of the Environmental Science Community looks forward to guiding the students who choose to be a part of our community so that they appreciate and more fully understand how they are part of the global community.
