Mission Statement: Students enrolled in the School of Communication, Media and Technology will gain a general under
standing of the influences and effects of mass media on society. Academic excellence will be achieved through a dynamic and rigorous hands-on program. Individual students will become life-long, interdependent learners prepared to creatively and intelligently engage our challenging and ever-changing global culture.
Community Description: The school of Communication, Media and Technology will use a collaborative approach to achievement. This program will infuse technology and creative projects across the academic disciplines. Furthermore, related electives will enhance the curriculum by allowing students to develop an unique sense of style through web design, film production, live radio and television broadcast, journalism, creative writing, public speaking, and computer graphics. Career exploration will be pursued through class trips, guest speakers, working in the communication field, and career assessments.
The School of Communication, Media and Technology will offer several tracks including Broadcasting/Studio Production and Digital Technology/Web Design. Each track will offer in-depth classes based on acquiring a solid foundation in the specific area.
Goals:
Students will:
- belong to a learning environment that enables them to transform themselves intellectually, personally, and socially;
- explore career options in communication and media related fields and be exposed to school-to-career opportunities;
- engage in hands-on projects and training related to media arts, communication and technology;
- have the opportunity to experience various technology related areas, including graphic and web design, studio production digital technologies and communications; and
- will complete cross-curriculum projects that combine multiple subjects (math, history, English, science, etc.).
