Our Mission: The School of Business and Leadership will provide students with a comprehensive understanding
of global competition in business and economics. Students will acquire a broad understanding of business, finance, marketing, management, and leadership. Success will be achieved through personalized and connected learning for all students, leading to preparation for college, career opportunities, or immediate job placement.
Community Description: One out of every three American jobs is in the field of business. The School of Business and Leadership is designed to offer each student the opportunity to gain experience in the world of business. Students will benefit from practical, real-world preparation designed to enhance decision making when entering the workforce, college, or starting a business. This program integrates technology and hands-on projects throughout a rigorous academic program. The curriculum integrates electives related to banking, accounting, fashion merchandising, marketing, business ownership/operation, economics, international business, travel and tourism, sports and entertainment marketing, administrative and financial services, computer applications, and organizational management/leadership. Students will be offered several career clusters to promote a variety of choices. The program creates a supportive learning environment by forming partnerships, mentorships, and internships collaborating with local business, agencies, and Cumberland County College.
Goals:
Students will:
- participate in a learning environment geared toward developing interpersonal, team-building, and leadership skills;
- explore career options in business related fields through advisories, mentorships, partnerships, and school-to-career opportunities;
- engage in hands-on projects with real-world linkage to business and the service industry;
- develop and manage models of business enterprises; and
- gain skills necessary for success in the world of college, business, and the workforce.
