Mission Statement: The mission of the VHS School of the Arts is to provide an experience in the Arts with the ultimate goal of continued participation in the Arts beyond graduation as a vocation or life long interest.
Community Description: The School of the Arts' focus is on the creative and performing arts. Themes are centered on the Visual Arts, Music and Theater. This community offers coursework for motivated students that not only develops their chosen artistic outlet, but also concentrates on rigorous academic study. It is the goal of this community to provide students with a strong academic and artistic program that will prepare them to enter the field of their choice. This community is also designed for the student that may not be seeking a career in the arts, but would like to explore their passion and apply their talents on a daily basis through academic study in an Arts centered curriculum.
Goals:
Students will:
pursue a rigorous course load of academic subjects including math, science, English and history as well as featured courses in the arts;
expand their interest in the arts and explore their chosen media in depth;
understand core subject content by developing their own learning style and experiencing the creative outlet provided by an arts centered curriculum; and
be provided with greater opportunities for creative expression in many artistic avenues within a structured framework.
