CONGRATULATIONS goes out to Petway Elementary School as they won grand prize in The Environmental Fair's Recycled Fashion Show.
Petway Elementary School fourth graders in Ms. Basile, Mr. Anthony, and Mrs. Bordo’s classes all attended the Cumberland County Improvement Authority’s Environmental Fair on May 7th 2008. The children participated in their annual recycled fashion costume show. The children had to create a costume made from all recyclable or reusable materials. The grand prize for the fashion show is $4,000 worth of playground equipment. Petway took first place in the costume contest. They did a Dr. Seuss theme to “Recycle Across America” featuring the Cat in the Hat, Yertle the Turtle, and Thing 1 and Thing 2. Attached is a picture of the students in their costumes. The students also participated in an individual sculpture contest using recycled materials. Two sculptures were chosen to represent Petway, one of which won 2nd place overall with a $75 cash prize. The winner of this sculpture was Bradley Durand.
