.....................All About Mr.Hughes

I was born in New Hampshire, but lived my first 22 years in
Vermont. My mother was a first grade teacher. I went to the
University of Vermont to become a teacher as well. I guess I
always wanted to be a teacher since I was in the seventh grade. I started teaching in the Vineland School District in February 1998.
My first eight years in the Vineland School District, I taught at Dane Barse. I have taught both third and fourth grade. I was awarded the "Teacher of The Year" award in 2006. My classroom has had a web site since October 1999 and the Web Quest (Mr. Hughes' Challenge since November 1999). There are a lot of jobs that will pay you more money and have a lot less hours, but there is none that has the rewards that I receive everyday from my students. I love to play tennis, swim, teach, read and ride my bike. I like Pepe le Pew, Eeyore, Dolphins, Smileys, Elvis, Country Music, the color purple and the New York Yankees.   My favorite place to be is anywhere near water, whether it is a lake, stream, waterfall or an ocean. My favorite months are April and October. I believe that everyone can learn through hard work and dedication. My goal is to create a sense of responsibility in each student so that he or she performs to the best of his or her ability.  I also believe learning should be fun. It is a pleasure teaching this group of students... It is amazing how they grow, mature and learn everyday. I respect how hard they really try.

This is Mr. Hughes, as a Third Grader.
