MR. HUGHES’ CHALLENGE

This page is for students who desire to learn new things on their own. The students who are working on this Web Quest are becoming independent learners.

They are taking their first steps in becoming young men and women. Each individual student who comes here, accepts my challenges, is a student who is not afraid to make a mistake, expects the best from themselves, and has high expectations.

They shoot for the stars, have fun and learn along the way. I am proud of any who accept my challenge.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Meet  5-14  Challenges  – VOYAGER  On your way to Success

Meet 15-25 Challenges  – CHALLENGE WARRIOR

Meet 25-39 Challenges  – CHALLENGE CHAMPION

Meet all  40 Challenges  – SUPREEM CHAMPION

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I created this Challenge in 1999 originally for my third grade class. I have over the years added on to, modified and updated the questions.

EVERY YEAR WE have many students who become Voyagers, and every year we always have a couple students who become a Challenge Warrior.

The past three school years (2006-2009), we had our FIRST Three CHALLENGE CHAMPIONS with 26 or more Challenges completed..

Christopher Wainwright with 27 (2006-2007)

Gregory Hughes with 29 (2007-2008)

....AND THE CHAMP, Mariya Ostapenko (2008-2009) with 32 Challenges completed and still going strong!!

Christopher passed Tyus Perez who was the previous record holder and had 23 challenges completed.

----------------------------------------------------

   =Guess first.

Prior to researching your answer, on questions with a  G in the number box, you

must first get an index card and write what you think the answer is and turn it into me.

Once you have guessed at the answer, you may now start your challenge.  When you

are finishing researching and you have the answers, bring it to me and we will compare

your first guess to the researched answer and we will rejoice in the learning that just

   took place.
