Local business owner donates food for those in need at Mennies School

The 2018 holiday season at Mennies School was again filled with joy and thanks. This year marks the fourth year in a row that Salvatore Gaetano, Founder and CEO of Franklin Insurance Adjusters, has chosen Mennies School as the recipient for his annual food campaign. As of this year, 80 needy families at Mennies have benefitted from his generosity.

The idea to donate and help needy families originated with Gaetano’s daughter, Nicole. Nicole sat at lunch one day while in eighth grade, and noticed children around her only eating a portion of their lunches and saving the rest to take home. Nicole immediately went home and asked her father if there was anything they could to do to help children who might be in need. From this genuine concern, began a food donation campaign that has lasted eight years now and has touched the lives of many.

Gaetano, along with his family, takes the time to shop for the food, gets the food home, and then assembles the food baskets that will be donated to the families. He has provided food for twenty families in the last three years, and will again help another twenty families this year. The food basket donations will not only give these families enough food for their holiday dinner, but also for weeks after. Gaetano delivered the baskets to Mennies on December 19, in time for the families to enjoy their food for the holidays.

Gaetano started Franklin Insurance Adjusters in 2003 with just one small office but has grown nationwide, with satellite offices across the country. He is a member of the Vineland CEO Group, was a previous Trustee on the Board for The Spirit and Truth Ministry Soup Kitchen, and a former member of The Franklin Township Little League.

“Mennies School is forever grateful to Mr. Gaetano for his kindness and generosity,” said Rita Santoro, teacher at the school. “We appreciate being chosen again as the recipient for this most wonderful gift.”
