Working Together for a Bright Future

Lincoln Ave. School counselor recognized as Youth Alliance Educator of the Year

Lincoln Avenue Middle School guidance counselor Ryan Suppi was recently recognized as the Youth Alliance Educator of the Year.
“As last year's honoree, I had the privilege and honor to speak on behalf of Ryan Suppi as he received this recognition,” said Tammy Monahan, principal. “Mr. Suppi's attributes are representative of those of The Youth Alliance mission. Mr. Suppi perseveres to overcome the challenges we face in education, coming in early, staying late, and taking on many additional responsibilities beyond his role as an educator.”
Monahan went on to note that Suppi consistently demonstrates a deep commitment to the students and their families by relentlessly working to support the students, families, teachers and administration in whatever way possible. Suppi also finds innovative approaches to enhance character education, including initiating campaigns each year that encourage everyone, students and staff, to “hero up” and “join the resistance” against negative influences and to “choose your character wisely”. As part of the character education program, he creates video productions and t-shirts, and plans activities for students in support of these campaigns. He also promotes these initiatives through his work with the TV studio and the school website. These efforts motivate students to “Make the Change” and “Stand Up” to promote safe schools and communities, and allow students a voice in response to recent school shooting tragedies.
“His proactive approach has been extremely effective in continually improving school climate,” said Monahan.
Suppi's motivation and sense of purpose in life does not stop within the school. He is also committed to coaching at the middle and high school level and for his children’s travel teams. He also serves the community by supporting Toys for Tots and helps collect food for the needy. Suppi was also named as the Lincoln Avenue Middle School Educational Services Professional for 2018-2019.
