12 VHS Seniors vie for Mr. Vineland title

Twelve Vineland High School seniors will vie for the title of Mr. Vineland 2019 when the annual pageant is held on Thursday, Jan. 10, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of VHS South.
Tickets for the contest are $5 and may be purchased from one of the 12 contestants. There will be no reserved seating and no tickets will be sold at the door. Calendars of the contestants will be sold both prior to the show and at the door for $5.
Funds raised at the event help defray the cost of the senior prom. Mr. Vineland receives a crown, trophy and the right to wear the Mr. Vineland sash.
The new Mr. Vineland will be chosen from a field of five finalists. Each contestant will be scored equally in the following areas: Casual attire, talent, and formal attire. The finalists will then answer a final question.
The 12 contestants were selected by female members of the senior class from more than two dozen applicants.

Mr. January: Vedant Patel
Vedant Patel is the son of Sunny and Manisha Patel. He is involved in Interact, HOSA, UNICEF, and National Honors Society. Outside of school, he plays football with the boys, plays video games late at night, and works out. After graduation, he plans on attending Rutgers University to major in Biological Sciences.

Mr. February: Tanner Bushman
Tanner Bushman is the son of Kevin and Rhonda Bushman. He is a member of the morning announcement crew and helps direct important school video projects. Outside of school, he is a member of the Boy Scouts of America and works on his own films. After graduation, Tanner plans on going to college to pursue a career where he can put smiles on people’s faces.

Mr. March: Bubba Beyer
Brandon “Bubba” Beyer is the son of Kristina and Raymond Beyer. He is a member of the Vineland High School Varsity Baseball team. Outside of school, he is involved in lifeguarding at the YMCA and Dolphin Swim Club and spending his free time on the lake fishing. After graduation, Bubba plans on getting a degree in nursing at Widener University.

Mr. April: Lucas Portadin
Lucas Portadin is the son of Sue McMahon and Ron Portadin. He is a member of the National Honor Society and the Captain of the boys soccer team. Outside of school, he plays travel soccer and volunteers at Inspira Medical Center. After graduation, Lucas plans on playing soccer and studying biology at Drew University. He wants to be a dentist.

Mr. May: Trey Luciano
Trey Luciano is the son of Bill and Brooke Luciano. He is a member of Search for Conscience and Yearbook Club. He is the photographer for the school. Outside of school, Trey is a soloist with the Vineland Regional Dance Company. After graduation, he would like to move out of Vineland and continue writing and producing music.

Mr. June: Kollin Fleeks
Kollin Fleeks is the son of Stephanie Waters and Karlton Fleeks. He is a member of the Vineland Basketball team, RAFT, and Graphic Design Club as an internship. Outside of school, he writes original song lyrics, cooks, and spends time with family and friends. After graduation, Kollin plans on going to college to become a graphic designer.

Mr. July : Isaac Rodriguez
Isaac Rodriguez is the son of Jenifer Conrow and Angel Rodriguez. He is involved with the Boys Swim team for three years, concert choir for the past 4, and studied abroad in Italy on a full scholarship for a month. Outside of school, he likes to travel having been to a total of 7 countries during his high school career. After graduation, he plans to further his education at Stockton University majoring in political science.

Mr. August: Maykon Hernandez
Maykon Hernandez is the son of Silvestre and Anita Hernandez. He is captain of the Vineland High School Soccer team. Outside of school, he works and helps out his family and girlfriend with anything they need. After graduation, Maykon is joining the US Army and plans to go to college after to pursue a degree in Landscape Architecture.

Mr. September: Colby Martinez
Colby Martinez is the son of Marilynn and Ramon Maldonado. Outside of school, Colby often spends his time working at the Black Olive Restaurant taking orders and serving. After graduation, he plans on continuing his education at Rutgers Camden College to study psychology, and would eventually like to pursue a career in counseling.

Mr. October: Curtis Riggins
Curtis Riggins is the son of Curtis Riggins and Leann Bohn. He is a member of the Vineland Academic Team and Roosevelt Scout Reservation as staff co-captain. Outside of school, he restores classic cars and is currently working on a 1968 Buick Skylark. After graduation, Curtis plans on becoming a history teacher.

Mr. November: Tyler Kimmel
Tyler Kimmel is the son of Melissa Kimmel and Daniel Kimmel. He is a four-year member of the Vineland High School Marching Band, and also serves a role in the Tri-M National Music Honor Society. In the Marching Band he served as Drumline Captain, and along with that is enrolled in Concert Ensemble and Stage Band. Outside of school, he is an activist in his community, having been involved with the Boy Scouts for nearly 7 years, and is currently working on his Eagle Scout Project, benefiting the community. After graduation, Tyler plans on following his passion for music, pursuing a Degree in Music Therapy and Production from Rowan University.

Mr. December: Camron Stahl
Camron Stahl is the son of Kristen and Richard Purich. He is a member of the varsity soccer team and Youth to Youth. Outside of school, he is involved in working and volunteering. After graduation, Camron plans on continuing to play soccer at RCGC.

The program will be videotaped by VPS TV and broadcast on Comcast Channel 9, Verizon FiOS Channel 41 and the district YouTube Channel, VLDSchoolsTV, at a later date.
