Pediculosis (Head Lice)

Head lice infestation produces an intense ‘itching’ of the scalp. If you suspect that your child has head lice, please call it to the attention of the School Nurse. You  can inspect your child’s hair using good lighting. The nits are very tiny and are usually a pearly white, but may be brownish or tan. They are generally located about one inch from the scalp on the hair shaft.

The policy of the Vineland Board of Education states that a student with head lice may not be admitted to school until they have been treated and all nits have been removed. Once the student has been treated and the nits have been removed, they may return to school by car. The parent MUST ACCOMPANY  the child to the nurse’s office. The student will be examined by the nurse, and a determination will be made as to whether the student may return to class.

PLEASE DO NOT DROP YOUR CHILD OFF AND LEAVE WITHOUT SEEING THE NURSE.
