The Affective Team at Mennies Elementary School is available to students and their families in times of need. The team is composed of one guidance counselor, a school social worker, a substance abuse counselor, and a community liaison. This team is dedicated to the positive educational and personal development of each student. Each member works closely with administrators, teachers, and families to ensure that each student has the resources and support needed to succeed.

Guidance Counselors:
Each student at the Mennies School has access to a Guidance Counselor. The Guidance
Counselor may help students with a variety of issues that may include academic
performance, behavior in the classroom, self-esteem, divorce, or loss of a loved
one to name a few. Students may be self-referred or referred by a parent,
teacher, friend, or family member. The Guidance Counselor meets with students to
assess their needs, help students cope with their personal situation, and find
the support they need. All information discussed with the students is kept
confidential unless the safety of the student or another person is in danger.
School Social Worker:
The School Social Worker works with teachers and the Guidance Counselor to meet the
needs of students and their families. The School Social Worker may link families
with resources in the community, provide support and information, or emergency
assistance. The School Social Worker is available to students and families at
school or in their homes. The Social Worker provides outreach to families to
encourage involvement and communication with the school.
