This year, in the interest of keeping everyone safe, the Elementary Art Show will be held virtually. The show consists of selected works, which were chosen by the district's art teachers, and is broken down by school and grade. On Friday, October 22, Durand students and their families enjoyed a night of fun at the school’s 15th Annual Fall Festival.  The two hour event was slightly different than in the year’s past, but surely still tons of FUN!

Things were a little different the first Friday in June at Durand Elementary School. Typically there would be over 300 students in grades 2-5 competing in a 2+ mile annual race.  Obviously, things changed during the pandemic, but at Durand, hosting a modified run was was a step, or lap, in the right direction.

Each year our Kindergarten teachers and students eagelry await a visit from our preschool friends.  Durand School and Vineland preschools collaborate to provide students with a tour of the school they will likely be attending in September. On Friday, April 10, Durand teachers and staff decorated their cars and lined up for a parade of positivity, The Bunny Eggs-Press! Over 30 cars were in the parade, which was made up of two special routes. Congratulations to 5th grade student Olive Tasso on being selected as Durand's Future Chef. Her recipe for a favorite Italian dish, Scrumptious Fritata, was selected among several others to go against one chef from each of the Vineland Elementary Schools.  At the school level, Olive will get to work with Chef Mark of Sodexo to practice preparing her dish in the school kitchen.  This cooking... Durand’s Elementary School’s Kids Care Club wrapped up another productive school year helping those in need. The club, led by teachers Kaitlin Propert and Tara Giblin, is comprised of fourth and fifth graders who meet weekly after school to dedicate their time to their classmates, school, and local community. More than 300 students at Durand Elementary School participated in the Durand Run on Thursday, May 23, the 41st year the event has been held.  Finishing first in the 2.5 mile race was fifth grader David Hendrix. The top female finisher was Grace Dougherty, a fourth grade student and first time runner of the event.
