A Celebration of Families
May 23, 2001
'Family Math Night'

Landis School celebrated its 'Landis Families' on Wednesday, May 23, 2001.  The night included 2 activities - Family Math Night with guest speaker, Mr. Ted Fattoroosa.   During the first part of the evening, parents spent time with their children performing math activites together under the direction of two fifth grade teachers (Ms. Dooley and Ms. Daniels).  These teachers were trained earlier this year at Rutgers Family Math Center.  Parents engaged in a variety of activities with their children which taught basic math concepts.  They were able to take home a packet of activities to do at home with their children.  Prizes were given for estimating popcorn kernels and gummy worms in jars.  Two door prizes were also given at the end of the evening.  Families were provided a dinner of pizza, salad and soda by the Parent Involvement Group.  Dessert was provided by the Landis PTO.

After the games, Mr. Ted Fattoroosa addressed the parents with a talk on the importance of parents actions on their children.  Mr. Fattoroosa's spoke on the topic 'Family Matters.'
