Dear Parents,
The K-8 Gifted and Talented programs in Vineland Public Schools are needs-based and determined through several criteria and align with New Jersey state standards. Our program is intended for those students who exhibit intellectual abilities requiring additional and appropriate educational challenges and opportunities to meet those needs.
Students can be nominated for consideration for entry into the Gifted and Talented (GT) program either by a teacher or parent. The purpose of the parent nomination is to provide parents with an opportunity to share information about a potentially gifted child who they feel may not have been detected by the standard screening process. A parent or teacher nomination does not guarantee entry into the Gifted and Talented program; a nomination simply means that the student's eligibility for the program will be evaluated. Eligibility criteria can be viewed by following the link below.
If your child is nominated by his/her classroom teacher, then he/she is automatically in the pool of students who are evaluated. A parent nomination is not required unless there is special information about your child you would like to share. The parent nomination form can be accessed by following the link below.
Our evaluation process normally occurs during the summer prior to each school year; therefore we ask that recommendations be made by the end of school year.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me or principal in your child's school, as we are all happy to help and answer questions.
Thank you for supporting your child.
