School to Careers Awards Breakfast |

Students in the School-to-Careers program
at Vineland High School received certificates and plaques of recognition,
plus a full-course breakfast at the May 17 program held at Larry’s
II restaurant The event was organized by Cindy Veale and Jim Smith, school to careers coordinators, and Elisa Colon, program assistant. Highlight of the presentation was the student Employees of the Year awards. These honors were based on job performance and overall scholastic achievement. The honorees were Brittany Beach, a cashier/stock clerk at the Ames Markets and Janie Adams, an office assistant at Complete Control Services. Students in the work/training programs at WaWa Markets and the Trump Casino job shadowing program also received special recognition during the program. Certificates were also handed out to the students who were involved in the ACE (architectural and construction engineering) mentoring program. Other students were honored for participating in structured learning experiences at the Delsea Drive Shop Rite store, and also the Vineland Developmental Center. Chalky Ottinger, Superintendent of Schools, accepted an award on behalf of the district for strengthening the program with job opportunities for students. The school-to-careers program also thanked Mrs. Jacqueline Gavigan, Vineland Board of Education Vice President, for supporting the program through her employment as Vineland Developmental Center Volunteer Services Coordinator. Mrs. Gavigan is retiring from that post this year. |
