Vineland High School Senior Prom 2007

Putting aside casual clothes in favor of gowns and tuxedos, Vineland High School students flocked to Centerton Country Club on Friday for the annual senior prom.

The transformation, even to the casual observer, was impressive. To parents, the metamorphosis must have seemed even more striking. Since the event was closer to town this year, many lingered outside, taking photos and looking at their children with a sense of pride and awe at how grown up they looked in formal wear.

The participants arrived in all manner of conveyance – from family cars to classics from the 50’s and 60’s and stretch limos and Hummers. Once inside, they enjoyed a posh social event that continues the rush of activity leading up to Commencement, which is scheduled for June 18.

The atmosphere was mostly relaxed. After checking in and finding their tables, the party-goers enjoyed a lavish buffet meal, and dancing to the pounding beat of at DJ’s selections. A photographer was on hand to preserve the moment with formal portraits. The school’s administrators and staff served as chaperones, with assistance from a sizable contingent of VHS security personnel and Vineland Police Dept. juvenile officers.

A highlight of the evening was the crowning of the prom king and queen. Reigning as royalty –at least for the evening ---were John Marcucci and Andrea Santiago. The court included Barshay Graves, Doug Cherwien, Byron Scott, Steven Rosado, Little Wright, Samantha Braidi, Dana Long and Amber Hart.

A DVD with unedited copies of all of the photos at even higher resolution --- suitable for printing – can be purchased for $19.95 Call 856 794-6700 Ext. 2103 for details.

Thanks to Carla Hockenbury, technology teacher at Davies Middle School, Mays Landing, N.J. for assistance with still photography.

News footage of the prom will be broadcast on Channel 13. Check the VPS TV 13 Calendar for dates and times.
