D'Ippolito Student Supported by School Family for JDRF

Bobby Dickenson, a third grade student at D’Ippolito School, has become an active participant in fundraising activities for the Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). It’s a family crusade for Bobby, whose five-year-old cousin, Jetta Pettit, has been living with Type 1 (insulin-dependent) diabetes for the past 18 months.Bobby Dickenson, grade 3 student.

The third grader was one of the walkers on Saturday at the JDRF’s “Walk for a Cure” at Parvin State Park, as a member of the “Jammin’ for Jetta” team that raised a total of $11,000 – with donations still coming in.

The D’Ippolito School family, led by principal Gail Curcio, also helped out by holding a pretzel sale at the school, with all the donations going to JDRF. The project netted almost $300 in sales and donations.

“Bobby would like to thank his D'Ippolito family for their tremendous support of him,” said his mother, Christa. “They have been wonderful and are definitely a part of our extended family.”

JDRF's Walks, held at 200 locations all over the country, draw more than a half-million Americans who are making a difference in the lives of people with type 1 diabetes.
