Christopher Reaves, a seventh grade student at Wallace Middle School, received honorable mention in the New Jersey Education Association’s Families and Schools Together Work for Children (FAST), “Hero In My Family” Essay contest. Reaves, a student in Mrs. Monya Fuller’s class, wrote about the loss of his father.
Reaves entry was among more than 600 in the competition, said Mary Lundberg, speaking on behalf of NJEA and the Vineland Education Association . “Normally there are only three winners in the grade-level competition (grades 5-6, grades 7-8 and grades 9-12),” she said, “but so many excellent essays were received that the judges decided to award three honorable mention awards.”Reaves received a framed copy of his essay and a $25 Borders gift card.
“The Vineland Education Association is proud of Christopher and Mrs. Fuller,” said Mary Lundberg, a VEA representative.
