A near capacity crowd of new Vineland High School freshmen and their families attended the annual Ninth Grade Orientation/Open House on Aug. 30  in the school’s gymnasium.      Students get their class schedules.

The class of 2011 currently numbers more than 780, according to school officials.

Using a slide show projected on the wall of the room, administrators discussed the school’s policies and procedures, as well as the expectations of incoming students. Moderator was Donna Meyers, VHS North Associate Principal.  Also on hand to greet the students and introduce some of the staff at Vineland High School South was Dorothy Burke, Associate Principal.

Administrative assistants responsible for major subject areas at VHS North outlined important information relating to credit completion/graduation requirements, schedules, and other related topics.  Dr. Emily Cannon, guidance director, explained the services provided by her staff.

Afterward, the new 9th graders rushed to line up at a row of desks set up at one end of the room, where class schedules were handed out. The remainder of the evening was devoted to a tour of the building where students and parents could become familiar with the new surroundings at a leisurely pace.

Administration and other school personnel were available for questions and assistance throughout the evening.
