2 VHS seniors volunteer to help younger students learn sign language

Vineland High School students Sarah Chaudhri and Amy Wardzynski have been visiting Mrs. Tramontana’s first grade classroom at Petway School to teach the class basic sign language.

Sarah and Amy, both seniors, have volunteered their own time to come into Mrs. Danielle Tramontana’s classroom once a week for three months. The girls have been helping the younger students learn basic signs that can be used to communicate with hearing-impaired classmates or other students at the school.

Sarah and Amy have been taking ASL (American Sign Language) at VHS for two years.

“The students in my class have been eager to learn the signs for many of the activities in the classroom,” said Mrs. Tramontana. “They really look forward to the girls’ visits every week.”
