VHS Athletics Dept. and Community Service Projects and Events

The Athletic Department at Vineland High School has committed itself to being involved in several community service projects.

Some of the community service projects that our athletic programs participated in during the 2007-08 school year include:

  • Adopt a spot, Chamber of Commerce Community Cleanup
  • Read Across America at Petway School
  • Partnered with Rita’s Water Ice to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
  • Partnered with the Vineland Rotary Club to bring Challenger Baseball to the area.
  • Officially adopted the league team as their Baseball Buddies.
  • Aaron Ploch Run
  • Pan Can Run
  • Salvation Army Adopt A Family ($1,000 donation)
  • Tiny Tim Caroling
  • VHS Booster Club ($500 donation)
  • Project Graduation ($500 donation)
  • Volunteered with the "Challenger League" at North Vineland Little League, May, 24

The Athletic Department has created several new community service events planned for the 2008-09 school year.

Student members of the South Jersey Youth Alliance, and Boys and Girls Club of Vineland will be the guests of the VHS Athletic Program. They will attend selected Vineland High School athletic events. The goal of this partnership is to expose the student members of both clubs to as many high school sports as possible. These events will also be a great opportunity for the Vineland High School athletic programs to build a further connection to the youth in our community.

On December 23, 2008, the Athletic Department will offer free admission to the Girls and Boys Basketball Double Header, to spectators who bring an unwrapped gift to be donated at the door. The gifts will be donated to families in need. After the game Jack Martine, Vineland Head Boys Basketball Coach, and Rick Baruffi, Vineland Head Girls Basketball coach will deliver these gifts to The Boys and Girls Club of Vineland, on behalf of Vineland High School, Saint Augustine Prep, and Our Lady of Mercy Academy.
