New Jersey Youth Corps is the
largest corps program in the United States, serving over 1,500 young
adults each year. This program is administered by the New Jersey
Department of Human Services.
New Jersey Youth Corps breaks the
cycle of limited literacy and unemployment by giving young adults a second
chance to earn a state-issued GED diploma or an Adult High School
diploma. Corps members also develop employability skills through
community service work. Other special services include counseling
and job placement. Many Corps members who complete the program
continue to pursue higher education and specialized vocational
training.
Corps members who successfully complete the program
receive college referral services, opportunities for college scholarships,
job placement assistance and a personal Career Portfolio.
All adult education services are
provided free of charge excluding the LPN Licensed
Practical Nurse program and a small charge for Vocational and
Recreational classes
